Things change when rumours come out which made y/n find out that their long time online friend and crush is no other than one of the popular kids.

The bell rang and y/n gathered their stuff. Today was the day where they finally will talk to Kinich. Honesty, they had no idea how it would go or what will happen but whatever happens, it will be fine, it should be right? y/n hasn’t told anyone about them meeting up with Kinich, no one knows, not even Sethos then again, it feels like he knows something is up. Setho has been keeping an eye on them, and definitely has noticed something was up. He kept giving them weird looks but y/n chose to ignore it.
Once they zipped up their bag, they rushed out of the classroom. They didn’t wanna run into any of their friends and thankfully, they knew where all of them would be, all of them knew each other's schedule so it was easy to move through the halls and leave the school without being spotted. Their phone buzzed a few times but they ignored it as y/n started to make their way to the park. After talking with Kinich, they will definitely let the others know, for now, they wanna focus on this. Taking a deep breath, they tried to calm their nerves down, the anxiety building slowly.
Honestly, they are going there without a plan. They will just hear what Kinich says and go from there. They just wanna know why, why he kept it to himself and how long he has known.
After a little bit of walking, they finally arrived at the park, eyes scanning for the male. Of course it didn’t take long for them to spot the male, arms crossed over his chest as he had a blank look on his face, though his eyes kept wandering around, searching for someone,probably them. They took a second to stare at him, noting how tired the other looks. Though..still as handsome as ever- wait no no, That’s not what they wanna think about. Ugh. Taking a deep breath, y/n Finally moved over to him, their footsteps alerting him and his eyes landing onto them.
“y/n, hello” Kinich greets them as y/n nods, stopping in front of him “..hey..” a slight awkward silence fell over them until Kinci broke up, cleaning his throat “uhm, here. I found a good location, further from everyone so we can talk in private “ Kinich spoke softly , hesitating but after getting a small nod from y/n. He leads the way, away from everyone and somewhere quiet.
As soon as they reached the spot, y/n’a breath hitched. It was..their date spot. Just like before, on the soft grass laid a big blanket, making a nice big space to sit down. A few pillows were laying on the blanket as well, making it more comfortable. There wasn’t any food or music, but it still had a cozy and nice atmosphere. “I hope this is okay?” Kinich spoke up, glancing over at them “we, we can move somewhere else if you like?” He added, wanting to make sure that y/n felt comfortable as well.
“No no. It’s okay” y/n mumbled, taking a small deep breath. After staring at the small picnic spot, y/n sat down, placing their bag down beside them as Kinich sat in front of them, leaving some distance between them.
For a moment, neither of them spoke up, awkward silence stretched out for a while until Kinich broke it “im sorry” he spoke up, surprising y/n. “I’ll answer anything you want to know. I..” he paused, gathering and choosing his words carefully. “I don’t wanna lose you y/n.” He spoke, being truthful. y/n? They stared at him with wide eyes, taken back by the honesty and how blunt he was..then again, they knew that's how Kinich was. taking another deep breath, y/n spoke up, their voice shaky “I just- I just want to know why? If you knew about.. us being online friends then why didn’t you tell me? And how long? How long did you know about it?” They ask, finally lifting their head to look at Kinich.
All they wanted to know why, why he didn’t tell them? Why did he just hide it for who knows how long? They just..wanted to know why, Thats all.
Both of them stared at each other for a few seconds before Kinich spoke up “I’ll be honest” he spoke softly “I didn’t know how, how would you react to it. I was thinking of telling you, I wanted to but I didn’t know how” he trailed off, letting out a sigh “as for how long, well.” He paused, for a second. “You remember the day we bumped into each other?" He asked softly as y/n frowns. They didn’t like where this was going “yeah,,? Why?” They ask, anxiety spiking. Did he know since..that day?
“Well..the day before you and I bumped into each other , Ajaw.” He paused as y/n picked up the slight annoyance in his voice when he mentioned ajaw. “He started to spout some nonsense about..you being..cosmo” he huffs making y/n frowns. Ajaw? “I didn't believe him, he’s always saying nonsense and all that.” He sighs. “I.. still dont know how you and him are best friends..” y/n spoke making kinich huff out a small laugh. “Honestly, me neither.” He sighs “anyway, after I bumped into you, I really wanted to get to know you.. I don’t know,, but something about you..caught my eye” he spoke softly, scooting a bit closer “I don’t know why, something was pulling my towards you and I know for sure after our date, I want to be with you” he was blunt and honest, something y/n still wasn’t used to.
“As for when I found out about you being Cosmo, it was the day before our date, when you were gushing about me,,I just- it was cute” he added making y/n’s cheeks turn pink. “And knowing that? That you're my online best friend, it somewhere made things..better. My adorable, kind, amazing best friend” he spoke, a small noise of surprise leaving y/n. Kinich reached up, his hand hovering in front of their cheek, allowing y/n to pull back. When they didn’t, he gently placed his hand onto their cheek “im really, really sorry y/n “ he spoke softly “I didn’t know how to tell you, but I know many hiding that, it made things worst “ his thumb rubbed over their cheek, making y/n lean into it, unable to stop themselves “im so sorry y/n but im being honest when I tell you, I like you.. no-“ he paused “I love you y/n. It doesn’t matter if you're cosmo or y/n, it’s the same person I fell in love with”
Silence searched out, both of them staring at each other as Kinich kept his hand onto their cheek, thumb gently rubbing their cheek. After a bit, y/n took a breath “youre a idiot” they mumbled as they reached up to place their hand over his, the one who was on their cheek. “I understand, it probably was a bit of a shock for you to find out too.” They spoke as Kinich hummed “you can say that again..” he mumbled scooting a bit closer “how about I make it up to you? “ he asked soflty as y/n hummed lightly “and, how would you do that?” They ask “im still upset at you” “and you have every right to be” Kinich nodded “but I’ll do whatever I can to make it up to you,,”
y/n bit their lower lip, a strange feeling in their chest. Butterflies.. ugh, no matter what,, somehow, y/n couldn't find themselves to be upset but.. then again they wouldn't mind if he did make it up to them. “Well..what do you have in mind? How are you going to make it up to me?” they ask softly , leaning in closer. Both of them were inches away from eachother, staring in eachother eyes, unable to look away. It was just like the rest of the world disappeared and it was just them, like nothing else mattes besides them.
“How about.. a second date?” Kinich asked softly, making y/n grin a bit “as long as it’s not a picnic date, since you already did that” y/n joked, their foreheads pressed together. It was like a magnet pulling them closer and closer, unable to resist it. The awkward silence was replaced by something else, something more comfortable, more relaxed,, maybe something more that could be described as desperate? Needy? Who knows.
“I’ll be sure to pick something else then” Kinich chuckled lightly, making y/n grin. “It’s a date” they mumbled and with that- the space between them disappeared, lips connecting in a soft kiss.
