i have her put behind not one but two warnings, and even then the only mentions to it are in her coded biography and i don’t make a debacle of it, so like i took the precautions man. i’m worried an adults going to skip over all of that, find out she’s a SWer and then be like “umm???? you’re SIxTEeN???????? hello TH mods we have a minor trying to obtain nsfw????? hellloooo??” when i’ve done nothing of the sort and have no intentions of doing so because, per the PSA forums, it seems lately like everyone has an issue with minors on TH. like dude i have YEARS worth of art and characters on my profile and TH mods are notoriously slow, if i get taken down i’m toast
honestly not sure i still want to run HSSS. it was a fun little side project when i was looking for resources for making my fantrolls, but i pretty much make them all myself these days, and there isn’t a whole lot that i need that isn’t already on there. i don’t even still make sprites anymore, and the entire blog is literally CALLED “sprite sources” for fuck’s sake, that’s an issue. shit, john’s only still part of it to help me sort through asks and followers, he doesn’t even really do fantrolls anymore...
it’s pretty draining, considering i absolutely hate the “sprite” community and everything they’ve put me through. actually, y’know what, i just hate the homestuck fandom in general. it’s full of antis and discourse and obnoxious bratty children who bully people because they have a B/W mentality, and john and i are both tired of trying to play nice with the fandom when it’s never done the same for us. i’m tired, WE’RE tired of shuffling through followers every single day to be met with people who hate our guts and don’t realize it.
if nothing else, i absolutely refuse to stay anywhere near the “sprite” community considering it harbors a handful of toxic people pulling all the strings, and that is also exhausting to deal with. trying to keep old drama quiet is wearing my mental state extremely thin.
as a whole being a part of it is physically exhausting. so we’re trying to work something out. i’ll keep you posted.
I totally understand that many people admired the accomplishments of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and that she meant a lot to people, especially women, in the US, but… all this canonising of her as a saint-like figure is starting to feel very Catholic, and I urge you to consider that maybe this isn’t the best way to honour the memory of Jewish woman.

No, that’s… that’s exactly the type of thing we’re objecting to, here. I’m sure you mean well, but RBG was not “promoted” to anything. She was a Jewish woman who fought a lot for equality in her life, and then died. Judaism doesn’t have people who ascend to some all powerful level of sainthood. There are particularly righteous people on earth who are notable and admired (tzaddikim) but it’s an informal and totally observational designation, and we don’t worship individuals we considered a Tzaddik at all, we just admire them. RBG is not some heavenly judge now sending flies to bother Mike Pence. That’s not how Judaism works. Moreover, as a Jewish person, I’m asking you to please not mistake our foundational texts being appropriated from us and then reinterpreted to have a totally different meaning as some sort of “developmental” line. Christian/Catholic thought has nothing to do with Jewish thought. Our entire worldview is different. Please respect that.

Right, no, she just kept a mezuzah (important Jewish ritual object) on the door of her chambers, had a Hebrew injunction from the Torah about justice that is important in Judaism woven into her collar, kept that same Hebrew phrase emblazoned on a poster in her office, sent her kids to Hebrew school, celebrated the high holidays with her grandchildren, co-authored a feminist Passover seder supplement with a rabbi in 2015, literally said at her confirmation hearing that being Jewish shaped her views on civil rights, remained active in Holocaust remembrance efforts, did interviews on Jewish identity and antisemitism, wrote essays for American Jewish Committee publications, and one wrote an article in the New York Times entitled “What Being Jewish Means to Me,” in which she wrote: “I am a judge born, raised, and proud of being a Jew. The demand for justice runs through the entirety of the Jewish tradition. I hope, in my years on the bench of the Supreme Court of the United States, I will have the strength and courage to remain constant in the service of that demand.”

I’m not saying this to be a mean stick in the mud, but this isn’t going to affect fiction writers lol. Researching your crime noire novel (or, let’s be honest, fan fiction) isn’t going to get you arrested. The case reported on had this used to create a profile of narrowed down suspects related to a vandalism, without needing a specific warrant. When this gets used further, it will be primarily to profile activists (especially black activists) based on who searched for organizing efforts related to certain protests, or some similar measure against dissent. It’s not going to be used directly against you in court unless a warrant is issued, which has been a factor for years now.
As with most privacy concerns these days, the issue isn’t so much what it will do to any one specific person, but how it empowers law enforcement to enact wider authoritarian controls on populations using such enformation. More invasive methods of monitoring become more widespread and ubiquitous reprisals.
Regardless, you should already be moving away from using google as your primary search engine.

Two years ago, I had a Deaf girl show up in my drivethru on Halloween. Her mom was kind of sad when I tried to offer the girl candy, and you could tell it’d been a rough night. I asked her to get the girl’s attention, and then signed to her the way I learned from those top gifs. She started laughing and clapping her hands at once, and when I held out the bowl of candy she was DELIGHTED. I think there’s a very serious possibility I was the only person all night who was able to share with her that way.

Almost word for word. This four minute bit is carrying us through these times, and is probably the only piece of media to come directly from politics that is genuinely joyful.
