Fingers tapped nervously against the side of his leg as he walked across campus, hoodie zipped up tightly to brace himself against the chilly night air. He had no idea what had compelled him to agree to this, to go to the dorm of some girl he didnât know, had spoken to for only a few moments at a diner. Pulling his phone from his pocket, he checked for the umpteenth time to make sure he was heading in the right direction, walking up toward the building and making his way to the second floor.
Dark eyes stared ahead for a solid minute, trying to gather his nerve. She had invited him, clearly she wanted him to be there, all he had to do was raise his hand and knock. But what if she was just messing with him? God, shut up, he chastised himself, shaking his head as if to shake off the intrusive thoughts, finally bringing a curled fist up to rap gently on the door. @iwcna

Brows raising as he seemed to put his foot in his mouth, Iwona watched as Michael stumbled over his words, shaking her head in amusement. âDo you usually struggle this much?â she asked playfully. âNice to meet you, too,â she said with a smile, nodding her head once. âUntil we meet again, then? What was your name?â
A flush rose quickly on his cheeks at her question, swallowing thickly. He knew she wasnât trying to be mean, could hear it in her voice that she was only teasing, but he hated attention being called to his short comings. âYeah,â he muttered, pressing his lips together. Michael slung his messenger bag over his shoulder, stopping in his tracks. âUm,â he started, embarrassed that heâd forgotten to introduce himself. âMichael.â
iwcna:
âOf course they donât need them, but I still donât think you can have too many,â she said, brows furrowing. âWhy are you arguing? Do you not want to be my friend?â she asked. Laughter followed soon after and she sighed. âIwona and Iguana rhyme a bit better, donât you think?â
âNo,â Michael said quickly, shaking his head. âI mean, no I donât not want -- I-â he let out a frustrated breath, brows knitting together, stumbling over his words. He pinched at the bridge of his nose, taking a breath to collect himself. Michael pressed his lips in a smile at her laughter, shrugging a shoulder. âI suppose.â He sniffled softly, brushing his fingers over the paper before tearing off the corner and carefully tearing it from the book, folding it in half twice before sliding it across the table, offering Iwona a fleeting smile as he stuffed his sketchbook and the corner of the paper into his bag and stood. âNice to meet you.â

Pandora had picked up extra shifts at the diner to cover for a girl whoâd claimed to be sick at home, she was pretty sure the girlâs twitter feed was saying otherwise, that she was actually busy getting shit faced at some frat party, but it didnât matter to Panda, she was making money. Though she was currently taking her break, resting her tired feet in the seat across from her, munching on a bagel while doodling on her order pad when she heard the continuing sounds of frustration and annoyance from one of the customers across from her. She couldnât help but glance over, craning her head just a bit to try and see what he was angrily working on when he caught her looking, a flush tinging his cheeks and a smile spreading across hers, shaking her head, âOh youâre not bothering me,â The girl laughed lightly, Â âJust a little worried you werenât enjoying your service,â She teased, gesturing towards her uniform and humming, âWhatâs got you so worked up?â
Michael was shit at landscapes, that was something he already knew. He was good at portraits, ironic considering he was terrible with people. He was good with charcoal and watercolors, abstract. Not a detailed landscape. Why he thought majoring in art was a good idea when it was such a subjective thing was beyond him. He was honestly about to give up. He let out a soft laugh when the girl replied, shaking his head, caramel curls falling into his eyes. âNo, no the service is fine,â he assured her. Michael sighed, pushing his sketchbook away a fraction, maybe if he distanced himself for a moment heâd be able to get it right. âArt assignment due tomorrow.â
iwcna:
âItâs okay,â she assured him once more. As she laughed, she shook her head minutely. âI didnât say you didnât have any⌠I guess I should have said you canât have too many friends,â she corrected. âIwona. Pretty much pronounced how it reads⌠Except the I isnât like âEyeâ but like âEeâ. Like Iguana.â
Michael stayed quiet for a moment, his hand pausing, lingering before starting back up. âI donât think thatâs true.â He shook his head, biting at his lower lip. âSome people donât need that many friends.â His lips pursed, twitching against his will. âIwona,â he repeated carefully, glancing up at her before returning to the notebook. âWhy iguana? I would have gone Eeyore.â
daynthompson:
âSorry if I scared you,â Dayn apologized. Truthfully, he always seemed to assume that he was the only one who knew how peaceful the roof actually was. Sometimes he forgot that other students had access to it, even when no one really was supposed to. But who didnât want to break a rule or two every once in a while.  âYeah, I kinda just came up here to clear my head, but I think Iâm alright, now,â he said, his cigarette about halfway done. That was a lie, of course, since his fingers were still trembling like they did when he was calming down from being scared.  âI can leave, if you want to be alone or something.â
âItâs fine,â Michael assured him, letting the door close gently behind himself. He stuffed his hands awkwardly into his pockets, walking out onto the roof, breathing deep the clean night air. âI know the feeling,â he muttered with a quiet laugh, shaking his head and kicking a small pebble across the ground. âNo, no youâre fine. Just trying to get some fresh air.â

Teddy hadnât meant to stare at the other, but sometimes he was too curious for his own good. He shrugged when the boy spoke, taking a sip of his coke, âI just thought you were jerking off over there, Iâm not gonna lie. I donât mind.â Hesitating he glanced back over, a smirk on his face, âYouâre not, are you?â
Michaelâs cheeks flushed bright pink at the boyâs words, squeezing his eyes shut momentarily as he shook his head quickly. âWhat? No - I -- Iâm not, Jesus, no Iâm not...doing that,â he stuttered, pushing his glasses up to rub at his eyes, embarrassment and confusion fluttering across his face.
daynthompson:
Dayn sat on the roof at nearly two in the morning, pondering his life. He had another nightmare again, for the third time this week, and he was over it. His anxiety medication was for emergencies only and it sucked that they wouldnât give him any more than that. Something about him having âhighly addictive personality,â which made sense as he took another long drag on his Newport cigarette. It was a gross, yet helpful habit. Especially when he was this tense.  He blew out smoke in a sigh and closed his eyes.  Sweet relief. He stuffed his other hand into his Mummers hoodie and shivered, still in pajama pants and his slippers. The door that led back downstairs swung open and he jumped in surprise.  Dayn considered stomping out the cigarette on the roof, but didnât care at this point. It wasnât like it was any sort of secret that he smoked.  âHello?â he called out, trying to make out who the mysterious figure was in the dark.
Insomnia was something that was far too familiar for Michael. It was an almost daily occurrence, and one of the reasons that he mostly functioned on coffee. So it wasnât any surprise that he couldnât sleep, again. Instead of keep himself cooped up in his room, he had decided to stretch his legs. Maybe the cool night air would help calm him down, itâs not like it could hurt, right? He took the stairs to the roof slowly, zipping up his hoodie as he pushed the door open with his shoulder, nearly jumping out of his skin when he heard the voice. He stopped in his tracks, eyes squinting as he peered out, trying to adjust to the dark. âSorry,â he apologized, shaking his head. âI didnât realize someone was already up here.â
