Pandora didn’t know what had possessed her to do something so stupid, something she knew could and would most likely end up with her heart broken into another billion pieces, but she just… couldn’t help herself. Rosewood Harbor, Maine didn’t have a lot of interesting events, they had snowball dances, spring festivals, the fish festival where all the fisherman got to sell their best catches of the week, and where someone would be crowned the Harbor Queen, something Pandora never got to be, unlike her sister.
The only town event she ever had any fun at were the ones that Matthew Rios and his nerdy little friends had convinces the community center director to let them put on, gaming tournaments. She truthfully thought they were stupid and boring, but she still always had fun at them, watching Matt playing his dumb games and get so into it that he actually broke a sweat. If she hadn’t loved him so much she would’ve thought it was embarrassing. Pandora wasn’t too shocked to see the flyer for a gaming tournament for Bernard university in the little café down the street from her apartment building, in fact, she half expected to see something like that pop up eventually, and she was glad.
Her excuse for coming was going to be that she had nothing better to do, and she always liked video games, she was aware that Matthew would know that was a lie, considering Pandora hated them, but it was better than saying the truth… that she was so desperate for an opportunity to see him that she put on the only yellow dress she owned, tried to tone down the color with a jean jacket, and drove all the way across campus to go to the student union building just to see him play his stupid games.
She was currently standing as close to him as she could be without him noticing her, a pamphlet of nonsense about the matches rolled up in her hands, she had no idea what was going on, knew no one but him, and felt completely out of her element and environment, and yet somehow… still felt at ease. That is until she there was a strange buzzing sound, and everyone began clapping and cheering, making her furrow her brows, and look towards Mattie as he began to stand, that stupid, cheesy sunshine smile she hadn’t seen it years plastered across his cheeks.
That’s when the nervousness set in, Pandora swallowing thickly when she saw the exact moment he noticed her standing there, and she tried her best to smile, waving slightly but making no move to come towards him, only praying that he would at least try to speak to her. @gameheld
