āi mean, if my beautiful wife is telling me that iām prettier than her, who am i to disagree?ā wife. that was a word he had never expected to be a part of his life. from as early he could remember, heād had a distaste for marriage. he had seen it destroy the good man that was his father, heartbreak after heartbreak. his motherās marriage was just as bad as the first. by the time he was ten, he had no faith in that of marriage, or the sanctity of it. who knew that he would find the love of his life, absolutely shitfaced, at sixteen years old? had ollie been told what his life unfolded to five years ago, he would have laughed until he had tears in his eyes. his life wasnāt built for marriage, even for a simple relationship. and he knew it had been the same thought process for that of caia, too. hell, it took him close to an entire year to finally get her to go on a simple dateā who knew that five years later, heād be happily married to someone who was only supposed to warm his bed? who knew that he would take his fate and spit in its own face? certainly not him, thatās for damn sure. he was told that he would die for somebody else, on some shit mission, because that was what his real purpose in life was. but before heād known it, heād given life a big fuck you and made his own path in life. one with love, support, friendship-. a healthy life. a normal one, and thatās all he wanted. a normal life with the love of his life. glancing over at caia with a warm smile, ollie pursed his lips. āi think that sounds pretty damn good, right? television, a breakfast buffet, and all you can eat shrimp? thatās pretty good for our first no-pants-saturday as the lees.ā with that, he rolled caia on top of him, his hands resting comfortably along her hips. ādamn, iām pretty lucky, arenāt i?ā
"youāre right,ā she laughed, rolling herself into his arms,Ā āyou are pretty lucky, arenāt you? i mean what other man is married to the second most attractive person in the universe who just wants to eat tons of shrimp with them in bed whilst wearing no pants?ā the two had came far. that was an understatement, the two had made leaps and bounds in comparison to their first meeting. she remembered it all as if it were yesterday, the laboured breaths shared together behind closed doors and how she would always leave as easily as she came. leaving was never an issue for caia, it was always the staying. but with ollie? oh god how leaving was so much harder. she remembered the first time that she just stayed, when she was struggling to find her shorts when a shirtless oliver in bed patted the spot next to him and said,Ā āstay.ā never had she heard anything more terrifying in her life, but never had she made a better decision than crawling back into his bed and finding solace in his arms. for once, in a very long time, everything felt silent. peaceful, almost. she felt at home as she rested in what shouldāve been unfamiliar arms but they were all too welcoming and she had found herself drifting off to sleep.Ā
nowadays, those arms were the ones she would think about all day, those arms were the only ones that she wanted to come home to. leaning down and kissing his nose, she couldnāt help but laugh as she nuzzled her face sweetly into his neck and took in a deep breath,Ā āi love you so much,ā she whispered. it wasnāt that it was a secret, once they had figured everything out, they loved very loudly. almost as if they were making up for time that theyād lost. but this time? it was a secret, meant for just them and there was so much hidden away in that i love you that it felt amazing to release,Ā āi love you-. you have no idea how much. thank you.Ā for everything.ā pressing a kiss to his cheek, she couldnāt help but laugh again, joy was bursting out of her as she rolled them over so that he was on top of her,Ā āand i am very lucky as well, for what itās worth. far too lucky. i donāt know how i got this lucky. wait, wait, wait-. get this! i got lucky by getting lucky.āĀ
