Atlético de Madrid fans shouthing "Puta Cataluña" (Fuck Catalonia, in Castilian) is not surprising considering that they might have one of the most xenophobic ultra sections of Spain, but its not exactly new. Catalanophobia permeates Castilian society, it gets shouted by Castilian fans (of any team) every time Barça lose (which shows a better understanding of "Més que un club", even if subconscious and used for hatred, than a majority of people online).

Surprisingly, another way that manifests is through names! Commentators/News outlets get Catalan names wrong most of the time if the equivalent in Castilian is not phonetically the same, and all the time if there's no real/popular equivalent. For example:

- Garcia: usually turns into "García", also c (/s/) becomes c (/θ/).

- Gerard/Joan: G/J (/ʒ/) turns into Y (/ʝ/).

- Eric: they stress the second syllable.

- Pubill: LL (/ʎ/) becomes L (/l/).

And this shit is just from this game!
