ARIANA GRANDE, CISFEMALE, SHE/HER) — around the 708, everyone knows who DYLAN TOWNSEND is. you know them, don’t you ? she is the twenty year old barista who is always blasting no diggity by blackstreet on her way home to the WEST SIDE. their fellow chicagoans call them emotionally unavailable, but at least they’re loyal, right ? burning buildings, explicit graffiti, smashed windows and car collisions. loving someone in the worst way. somewhere between total chaos and bitter abandonment, whiskey eyes filled with smoke and malice, a counterfeit smile that oozes over you like saccharine honey. ripped jeans and skirts too short to protect from biting gales, dainty fingers curled into small fists and vicious words that spill out onto the jagged edges of an abandoned building in a bright yellow quintessence.
ok so that’s all the basics abt dylan so im gonna go thru her backstory & her personality etc so ! sorry if i bore u actually but hopefully u dont skip through the majority of this (also, tw: alcoholism, emotional abuse, death)
ok so firstly ! as you can see, dylan is said to be emotionally unavailable. she’s reaaaally super guarded & she hardly ever lets herself become vulnerable to anything which is somethin that sort of developed as she was growin up
so her family was basically made up of her mum, her dad & her 3 older brothers . her mum was really shitty & mean & horrible & although she wasn’t physically abusive she was emotionally abusive, particularly toward dylan as she was the youngest in the family & because her brothers grew up without a very good education, etc, it was really hard for them to sort of recognise that it was really emotionally abusive (like they realised that something was up and they sort of stepped in when things went a little too far but other than that they were like o.0???? (excuse my awful use of 2013 emoji there) . & her dad wasn’t much help either because he was always out of the house tryna get some money for the family to live off of so it was all v difficult in that sense
& then eventually her mother & 2 of her bros died in a car accident where her mum was drunk driving & they were in the car w/ her . & this happened when dylan was around 12yrs old. & of course, despite goin through all that pain beforehand, she was still devastated cause that was her mum, those were her bros & family was family & that meant a lot to her
so, 2 or 3 years later after she’d finally managed to start coping w/ those 3 deaths, her dad remarried to a woman who wasn’t so nice but wasn’t like . abusive or anythin she sort of just disliked dylan a lot & would sort of ignore her & make snide remarks & comments & roll her eyes every time dylan basically breathed. so; not the nicest of women but a pretty sweet lady in comparison to her mother . & because of said wife who was very manipulative, dylan eventually started to get the same treatment from her dad
& her bro also moved out so she couldn’t really go to anyone about it and when she tried to talk to her friends or people that were super close to her they’d also just sort of scoff &roll their eyes & be like dude get over it youre growin up now time 2 be independent
so she was just a bit like ????ok tf . & that’s where the lack of emotional availability grew from & just progressed as life went on & she got a boyfriend or 2 who messed her around (potential plot idea??) & she just kinda got past her limit & decided she couldn’t do it anymore
but other than that ! she’s super loyal . like s u p e r loyal. only to close friends ofc, like despite her friends sort of blowin her off back then she grew from that too & involved herself w/ different people (who weren’t necessarily good for her but they just sort of got her . anyway .
shes like a sort of ride or die for anyone shes close to, super loyal, will hate all the same people they hate, refuses to do stupid shit that may jeopardise their friendship, yada yada yada . u get me
but other than that shes just a pretty sort of ... mean gal overall . she doesn’t do well when it comes to makin friends bc she’s cautious of everyone & she’s really distrusting, too (but super trustworthy dependent on her closeness to someone. either that or a massive snake who’ll spill all your secrets depending on how much she likes you) . she’s also super hot headed & a lot of things make her mad buuuut she does have a lowkey soft spot for certain people which will come out, like; once in a blue moon. however she also does like to prove that she’s super tough & will go out of her way to do that & to show people that she’s not like . some little 4′ gal who can’t do anythin
