Kalyanam registration
So we went to the marriage registration office to figure out information about what's to be done.
They have an online process to fill forms and book an appointment, all of this is wonderful and makes life blpretty convenient.
In Tamil Nadu, you need to register under Hindu Marriage act (which is by the central govt) and Tamil Nadu marriage act (WHAT!)
First about marriage act, this was passed in 1955 and the special marriage act was also passed then, which I was suprised and happy to know. And apparently when it was passed there were lot of riots because it gave equal inheritance to married and unmarried women and it legalised divorsces. Both of these seemed to be against religious principles and thus there were riots. This is a clear example of how sometime the govt needs to force decision down the throat of citizens even though the majority may not be for it.
Now coming to Tamil Nadu marriage act. Firstly it is ridiculous to have state wide marriage act. Secondly this requires parents consensus even if you are above legal age to get married. Basically their way of saying , "inter caste marriage is not allowed". As they can't do this in those plain words, they slip it I'm clauses like this. Bloody retarded bastards. I don't have time to roll my eyes at them..
Sigh. Whatever.
Mandapam is SO pretty!!
I really like it :) pudhusu tiles maathi, azhaga aakita :D
Ramakrishna matt and everyday reminder that I have drifted far far from the person who used to meditate every day.
Yedho definitely nidhanam poiduthu. Everytime I make a resolution that I need to do it. But follow panathiku vairagyamey illa unfortunately :(
This place and many others is a constant reminder of that I'm not done with Chennai and I won't be for many many years till I observe the cities heat music and saltiness in the air.
Yaar aathlayo venthakuzhambu panara!!
Gamma gamma gamma gamma gamma gamma vaasam varudhey. Ve-tha-kuzhambu :)
Picture was taken before I left to Chennai :)
I am so proud (:P) of my ability to sleep through 16 hrs of flight. I got up and had one bread and butter and slept again. Such bliss! Aparam Chennai avandhu, appa va konji kulavi, had filter coffee and verkadalai :D
Now home folks are asleep. I unpacked and cleaned up konjam and waiting for the sun to rise. Oh oh, we are living bang in the center of mandeveli :D such a great place to be :D house is open to 21G Oda smoke smell.
On a sad (?) Note, being in the US where the idea of class isn't visible to us on an everyday basis, it hits you hard when you return home. We have arranged for a driver from our Mama's house in sirgazhi. To be fair, tis person is quite poor and Badu Anna sent him so that he can make some money. Anyway, as soon as I came home, he was asleep in the living room on the floor and I felt yedho sad. Tip toed around and went inside and didn't disturb him, but still. In one way, I do like that the social class hits me like this, it is easy to remember to help and be nice and grateful for what we have.
Overall, happy happy :) big big plans for the day including ramakrishna matt visit, naturals parlor, blouse stitching stuff etc :)
And ofc, include rayar mess and sangeethas in between all this :D
Happy to be home :)
