Here's something that might change your mind on yumeshipping/selfshipping. Im someone who has some variation of trauma, and with that comes even more bullshit that can really suck sometimes. Such as : maladaptive daydreaming, anxiety, and I disassociate. Alot. A big part of disassociation is escaping your reality. (Which is where my maladaptive daydreaming comes in). I've been daydreaming for as long as I can remember, but only recently ive found a way to use it in a way that can occupy my mind with more questions, theories, and ideas. Distractions, if you wanna call it that. And if im being completely honest, daydreaming of my F/O hugging me and telling me everything is gonna be okay, feels like the most realistic delusion of romantic love I've ever had. (As a fictoromantic and asexual person). Getting lost in my dreams of a perfect world with my perfect F/O always make me feel so happy and joyful that coming back to the real world is just depressing. Which is why I think alot of yumeshippers/selfshippers post so much about their F/O online. Escapism. Mental health matters so much more than you realize, and hating someone for creating a community out of their daydreams can do so much harm to unstable people. And so I ask you, dont you ever escape from your reality? Don't you ever lose yourself in a book, TV show, movie, podcast, hobby, interest, or anything else that takes your mind off of everything else in the world? Yumeshipping and Selfshipping isn't as unhealthy as it seems when so much of it is building a world just for you and your F/O, your friends and their F/Os, and everything and anything that brings you comfort and joy. The real world is too big for anyone to truly comprehend and live in permanently without breaks. That's why yumeshipping and selfshipping is more important than some people seem to think, and im so happy that so many individuals have improved their mental health just by finding that escape and making their realities a little less dull.
