He felt an urge to reach out, to put a hand on his leg. Well, he felt an urge to do a lot o things, but right now the instinct was to get him to slow down. He needed to cool off before things got out of hand. Still, Hawk wasn't stupid enough to put his hand on another man in broad daylight, so he kept them both to himself. Instead, he reached into his jacket, taking out the pack of cigarettes and lighter, making sure the paper from Tim remained where it was. "Relax," he said, voice low, as warning as it was soothing. He couldn't have him losing his cool, not here, not now. "What I mean is that some people here like to claim they're doing what's right, but all they're really doing is lining their pockets, or helping someone who will. Everything here's about power, Tim. Power and money. You'll see." He took a cigarette, offering Tim the pack. It could have been a test, but it wasn't. Maybe he was being polite, and maybe he just wanted to watch him put something in his mouth. "Do you smoke, Mr. Laughlin?"
Tim felt a wave of relief. He suppose he knew this fact, but he liked to believe that people were genuinely good.❝thank you, it would be nice to know who I could trust. You never know who could be a communist or not❞ in a way Tim really didn't have a leg to stand on, since being a homosexual, was just as frowned upon as communist. But he would protect that secret with his life and no one was worth the risk. Not even the handsome man in front of him, who looked at him and he felt like melting into a puddle. This man was probably not even into men, and even thinking about it was wrong. Still how was one human that attractive? Tim almost said no about smoking, cuz he never had before, but he didn't want to insult this man, and just said ❝not often❞ it wasn't a total lie, since he had smoked once or twice before.
“thanks for coming over, dick. i called the cops again, but they couldn't do anything. he took off before they got here.” vicki took a sip of her beer, shaky hands tightly gripping the bottle. she'd been working on a huge story exposing corruption in the governor's office, and was being followed and harassed. a man in a ski mask had climbed up her fire escape and scared the crap out of her. probably a hired lackey. incidents had been happening for weeks and vicki was a paranoid mess. she hadn't wanted to involve dick, but he was the only one she could think of to call with a background in law enforcement. the redhead pulled her knees to her chest, sinking back against the couch pillows. every noise made her nerves go haywire. “i don't know what to do anymore. and don't say drop the story because that's not going to happen. i'm not going to let these people intimidate me.”
Dick looked at Vicki, he was going to tell her to drop the story. Was going to tell her to protect herself, to turn whatever she knew over to the police, and to get out of town for a few days. However he also knew that he could tell her that till he was blue in the face and she wouldn't do it. In a way he respected that about her. She was a force to be reckoned with and he admired that. Still ❝I'll stay the night, I'll sleep on the couch and I'll make sure nothing happens. But you might want to consider going somewhere else tomorrow night. I know you won't give up this story, or maybe you could give up your apartment for a couple days. You could stay in line and I can stay here, I'm that way if someone comes after you I'll be able to stop them.❞ if Vicki was anyone else, she would listen to him. But she was not one to show fear, and that is one thing he admired about her. But it also made him worry. He didn't have a lot of people he cared about, and he didn't want to lose a single one of them.
At his question, she shook her head. John would have never, if anything he had always encouraged her love of music, and they'd often marvel on how her playing would break the quiet in their home. She found herself feeling a small pang of sadness at the thought, but she pushed it away as she focused back on the conversation. "My husband would have never, my brothers also would have never" they might have done it to Daphne, but they never would have done it to her. She wasn't entirely sure how that had occurred, but she would always be thankful for it. Her family had always taken her uniqueness into consideration with their actions.
Ezra couldn't help but smile the third born Bridgerton daughter, and said ❝well that was nice of them, something I would have done to my sister's, but only when I was young and foolish.❞ he's never out right cool to his sister's, at least not that what he thought, but he knew he played the brother will very well especially when they were younger. Granted he hadn't been involved with his sisters in the last couple years, but he was picking up for it now. ❝are you staying in London for the whole season?❞ he asked trying to pivot away from the conversation, he didn't want her to explain too much of her family dynamic to him. ❝or is it a short visit, and then returning to scotland?❞
Elijah quickly realized that things were quite different here and that they had previously led a different, freer life. Maybe it wasn’t a good thing that they were here. But certain circumstances had led to this, and he wasn’t going to complain. Not here, in front of a stranger who certainly wasn’t interested in the matter and could use it against him. Even though he didn’t want to accuse her of anything, Elijah was cautious.
“Eight? You’ve outnumbered us,” he said, the corners of his mouth twitching upward in amusement. “There are five of us,” he added, a brief note of sadness creeping into his voice. He had lost two siblings, but he wasn’t going to say that out loud. “Right now, though, it’s just my sister and me in London.” And he didn’t know whether that would change anytime soon or not. Then he nodded briefly. “We’ll behave ourselves and make ourselves known whenever possible,” he smiled slightly. After all, he really wanted to help his sister find love here. “Is there anyone I need to watch out for when it comes to my sister?” If they had this conversation, maybe she could really help him. At least he hoped she wouldn’t be completely scared off by his candor.
Daphne always love the idea of a large family, since she had grown up with one. All she ever wanted was to be a mother. She would love to have her own large brood, watch them grow the way she watched her younger siblings grow. She remembered both Gregory and high since being born, watching them take their first steps, and that's what she wanted. She wasn't going to settle for less
❝five is still a pretty large group. Are you all in close?❞ she was a different level of closeness with each of her siblings, the one she wished she was a little bit closer to, was your sister Eloise since she was the closest sister to her. Daphne was the elder sister, Eloise was just a couple years younger, but they were very different. ❝there are a few, not many. Well at least not many that I know of. You probably want to talk to my older brother anthony.❞ she loved her brother, it was true, but since he became viscount he had been very different than a brother she grew up with. Also he was very, overprotective and because of that he scared away any potential suitor. But she was optimistic, as optimistic as she could be.
There was no denying that this phase she was in was extremely interesting and in another life maybe there would be something worth exploring in a potential friend, or something. However, Mary was a means to an end in a sense. Although, who said she couldn't enjoy herself some before the destruction of Gotham City? Gotham had to fall for all it did to the natural world, it was a poison. She'd always think so, but as she took Mary in her head tilted slowly, "I will say this confidence is very appealing, like a brand new you."

Mary nodded ❝these powers, i finally feel like myself. Like this is who i was always meant to be.❞ she had always felt weak, and felt as if she was just a push over. She had failed to protect her mother, she failed to help kate, she was just the one who was often over looked. Now that she had these powers, she was… free. ❝i have never felt more powerful in my life. This is what i am meant to be❞ she said proudly. It had been ivy who had given her the powers, true to awake her, but still ❝thanks again ivy.❞
She shook her head ❝no you don’t. You avoid eye contact with me. I do not think or need you to look at me adoringly, but we are married. We are bound for life. 𝚆𝙷𝙾 𝚆𝙴𝙽𝚃 𝙸𝙽 𝙵𝙾𝚁 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙵𝙸𝚁𝚂𝚃 𝙺𝙸𝚂𝚂? Fiyero, I think that night she was still trying to play hard to get, and he kissed her and she unexcepted returned it.
𝚆𝙷𝙾 𝙶𝙸𝚅𝙴𝚂 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙾𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝙽𝙸𝙲𝙺𝙽𝙰𝙼𝙴𝚂? Well, I know from past writing of ours and my headcanons that Aurelia has certain nicknames for Fiyero naturally. She loves teasing him as 'Your Highness', his last name, 'Prince Boy', 'Lover Boy' later and such.

𝙸𝙵 𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚈 𝙲𝙾𝚄𝙻𝙳 𝙲𝙷𝙰𝙽𝙶𝙴 𝙾𝙽𝙴 𝚃𝙷𝙸𝙽𝙶: I feel like Fiyero wishes he'd noticed Aurelia befors Glinda so it could have been them the whole time from the beginning.
𝚃𝙷𝙴𝙸𝚁 𝙻𝙾𝚅𝙴 𝙻𝙰𝙽𝙶𝚄𝙰𝙶𝙴𝚂 𝙰𝙲𝙲𝙾𝚁𝙳𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝚃𝙾 𝙼𝚈 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙴: I feel like quality time and physical touch would be the two top forms of love languages for these two.
