I woke up of barely sleeping and it's honestly worse.
Like at this point just end the show. What was the point of making Athena and Bobby build that house? (that we barelly saw them building btw, y'all complained of bathena screentime, but we barely saw them together in the season, and bobby and athena screentime is different from bathena screentime)
Was it to make the fans pissed off? Like would you look at your audience and kill off a character like that for shock value only? After spending a season hinting to them building their dream house...? And to treat his death as a joke, as it's not significant...?
His funeral got leaked om a tiktok live, the first ever MCD in the show, then they released a fake script (as Tim says) on april fools, they treated it's audience and the character as joke and when it was the time for the fandom to say it's goodbye to Bobby, the ones who saw the leak didn't experience correctly, because they all watched the episode unserious, believing his death was a fake out, that it was a dream, because no one could possibly be stupid enough to leak their first ever MCD on a live stream in tiktok... And who didn't see the leaks (General Audience) also coudln't fully experience because it rushed and out of nowhere as there was no reasonable indication or preparation to it by the way the season went. Tim didn't give us bathena content through the season at all, he didn't give us found family content, he didn't close ties... instead Bobby began and spent season 8A isolated from his team, athena had a rookie and questioned her career, the team fought to get back together with their captain, then Eddie left for Texas. When 8B started Maddie got kidnapped, Eddie's plot sideline in mediocre writting and now he just killed off Bobby.
Like what was the point of all that?
And then, as the way this season went wasn't a total disrespect considering what we just watched, Tim's briliant ass decides to come on an interview and rub salt in the wound "no no, this is for real, it was my creative decision to kill Bobby, you saw the body bag, he will appear in some flashbacks and such but he done for real"
The utter complete disrespect and insult that is to watch Bobby's death be done solely for the sake of shock value. If Peter wanted to leave it would be a different thing, but they had to convice Peter and ABC, Angela only got to know when she got the script for the episode, Tim had the whole cast bargaining with him, and now Peter was on GMA with a 5 minutes mediocre goodbye interview for being a member of this cast and playing Bobby for 8 years...
Bobby didn't need to die like this, Bobby didn't deserve to be send off like that, like a martir on a shit equipment failure and denying his wife the painful choice or the hope to try and find a different way. Bobby didn't deserve to die admiting he wanted to live with his wife and trying to make sure Athena believed that, after he just outcoming (offscreen) his su*c*dal ideation crisis he had last season. Thas was just such a fucked up thing to do "oh let's make our borderline su*c*dal mc sacrifice himself like a noble martir, after he just started to building his life together after a crisis".
Now you know what i expect from this show? Nothing. The dynamics are all fucked up, because realistically (like Tim wanted) there is no way that Athena, Hen, Chim, Buck or Eddie would EVER recover from this. Besides Athena, none of them had a chance to say their goodbye. Buck was caught in shock and couldn't barely react until it hit him, He will probably try to hold it together because Bobby said "they will need him" and then breakdown because his only father figure just died. Athena and Chimney will be feeling guilty and angry at Bobby for leaving them the way he did, Eddie will be spiraling over how things could be different if he was there, and Hen probably will try to be the voice of reason even though this loss hit her as hard as the others. Not to count the Grant kids, who's last conversation with Bobby was being offended on how they didn't have a room in their new house.
Like REALISTICALLY? it would be OOC for them to ever be ok, to recover from this, and we know Tim will make them "move on from this" in 5 episodes at best, because "oh it's how tv works"
The silly wee woo show becomes shalow, it doesn't feel right. They might try to catter to the second audience, buddies, but that will feel wrong, and like they're only doing to damage control the blow of Bobby's death. They might promote Ravi to main to try maintain some illusion of family dynamic. Heck they will probably bring back the Grant kids to regular cast (because they just shattered Athena's dynamic link with everyone besides Hen and have to get back to her being a mother, but now in grief, outside of being a sargent). The team will see his ghost everytime Gerard walk those doors, everytime they enter the kitchen, everytime they go on a call, but they cannont go to Bobby for advice to help them handle their feelings, because his absence is the source of it and there is no comeback from this.
Like we trully just witnessed the end of a show as it's known for, done completely for the sake of shock value because the showrunner woke up one day and decided to kill it's main lead who was the 2nd strongest source of GA's views... Also showing off his complete lack of awareness in a way that understimate and disrespect completely his audience interest in the show, because if he belived people sit through 8 seasons of 911 for the *amazing writing* rather than for the characters and the comfort, he was just completely blind by all this time.
Anyway i had to let this out of my chest and i'm sorry to anyone reading this venting essay from someone who feels like she just lost a member of her family while watching the last episode. Idk if i will watch past the funeral to grasp the few appearances of Bobby's ghost. But i'm quite sure y'all won't be seeing me watching the next season and tbh i hope Angela quits the show as well and their views tank.
