âIndie pop group Atlantic Shore, from Greater London, was started by Dan Noble (lead vocals, guitar), Will Tse (bass, backing vocals), and Ed Juniper (percussion) back at the start of 2011, and saw the addition of Dan Sullivan (lead guitar, backing vocals) in December 2013âł (When the horn blows, Blog)
The now, Liverpool and Leeds based band have released 2 new singles in the past month. Their newest being âComedownâ
âComedownâ reminds of bands such as âBoys like Girlsâ. The style of indie pop they portray sounds highly influenced by American Californian bands. The sounds used in this song brings back remnants of my 13 year old summers listening to âOwl Cityâ and âBustedâ, running out for water fights with my mates or footy in the park. The youthful nature of this song is beautiful and the lyrics are painfully harsh but they rely on the trust that everything is alright - which is proved by the major key of this song. The use of atmospheric samples give this song a lot of space in the mix which makes the vocals very clear and prominent and suits the genre.

The beginning to âEasierâ - a song the band released prior to âComedownâ -sounds like the theme tune of the e4 series âSkinsâ - which I love. Indie pop/rock - stereotypically - represents the ideologies behind this show (coming from being British myself). Conversely that is not always the case, as to me it also represents âLiving the American dreamâ and being carefree and living light. This song is though provoking in that sense.
However, the song changes dramatically, to sound almost orchestral - with auto tuned vocals and heavy use of eq, reverbs and delays.Â
The lyrics almost sound like sonic calligraphy. The production behind this song is classy with loads of samples used and simple guitar riffs used to tie everything together.Â
The use of electronic sounds such as wobble bass synths and pads are a nice touch as the song would otherwise be constricted to instruments of the band Overall, the song is easy on the ears and very chilled out especially when the lead guitar solo kicks in.
