I officially declare this as my farewell to the fandom. So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen goodnight. It’s been nice knowing you.

If you need to contact me, my main account is @shhadowhunter. My Selection blog @eadlynschreavve will not be deleted, but I won’t be posting on it. I’m probably going to unfollow most Selection blogs that I currently follow. I was thinking about deleting the Dom blog, but it’s on a whole separate account so why bother? It’s not like I’ll see any of the notifications.

If anyone wants to do another Selection OC after this, you have my blessing. You’ll probably want to talk to Livi and whoever else, though. If you want advice on how to run it, you can ask me but I don’t know why you’d want to since everyone’s hated how I’ve run this.

If Livi comes back with Selected in Paradise, I’ll probably still do it, but who knows if it’s actually going to happen anyway. If Issy ends up still doing her Selection animation thing (and still wants me to voice some characters/write some scripty stuff) then I’ll come back for that, but other than that, I’m declaring my leave of the fandom.

If anyone wants the Illea Weekly blog to make a final issue for this Selection, or to use it for another Selection OC, contact me @shhadowhunter and I’ll give it to you.

If you have any other questions, I’ll be watching notifications for Dom’s blog for the rest of the night, and maybe tomorrow, but after that it’ll just be my main.

Hey! I was wondering if you could release a list of rules or just explanation for the OC. It's my first time doing this and I have no idea what's going on aha.

The rules will basically be announced specifically for each challenge, since each challenge will be different in design. There aren’t necessarily any general rules to be aware of, other than keep track of challenges (which will be posted on Dom’s blog and reblogged onto the chat blog) and be nice to others ((or apologize in ooc parentheses if your character is supposed to be mean)). Also, just a note, if a challenge says that rp’ing with Dom or anyone else is optional, you really should rp if you have the time.

I have sent out emails and tumblr messages to some people who applied for the Selection OC if there were problems with their application. Please check your OC’s account or email to see if I sent one of these messages to you.

Hi! I was wondering... since it seems that there are a lot of entries for the selection oc, would it be possible that we tried entering two separate girls to increase the chance of being part of the Selection?

Ok. So you’re really not supposed to do that because it’s not fair to other people. However, since this Selection is anonymous, there really is no way for me to know if you submit more than one character if they each have their own email and tumblr accounts.

Also, just so you know, a lot of people drop out after the announcement, so you’re more likely to get picked even if you don’t the first time. And as someone else added in the replies, having two characters in the Selection is a lot of work, since you have to do double of what everyone else does. So it’s probably not a good idea to enter a second character, but you could.

omg i was just going to yell (and not really yell just be all sarcastic or whatever) about the fact that you asked from your main blog and not anonymously or from your oc blog because most oc blogs are like @ ladysomething or@ firstname-lastname or whatever. But then I looked at your blog and your only post is the selectionoc announcement post. So I guess this is your oc blog. Sorry for this long rant of inconsequential nonsense.

Yes, that’s fine. You can still change anything about your character before the selection actually starts. If you are selected and I forget to change the name to Thea (like if I announce Alessia as one of the Selected) then just message me again and I’ll fix it at that time.

New for this Selection:

This selection is anonymous, which means you cannot reveal who you really are.

If you announce who you are, you will be eliminated. If someone guesses who you are, you will not be eliminated unless you admit that you are who they guessed.

Since it is anonymous, you will need to create a NEW TUMBLR BLOG for your character with a new email address (preferably gmail so you can take part in group chats).

The reason for this is so that you can follow other blogs and like posts without revealing your usual tumblr blog.

This IS NOT required for the application (though highly recommended), but you will need a gmail account for your character before applying

Even though this is anonymous, it DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO BE RUDE OR ABUSIVE TO OTHERS just because they will not know who you are.

If you are found to be rude to others, I reserve the right to immediately eliminate you from the Selection

If you have any problems at any time with any other characters in the Selection, please let me know and we can work together to figure out what needs to be done.

ONE MORE WEEK TO ENTER/SUBMIT A CHARACTER!!!!

Oh, so for an example, if I talked to "Ella" in the chat and we agreed in writing a conversation in a fic (mine or hers, whatever) then it would be okay?

Yeah, that would be totally fine! You can read the fics I wrote for challenges in the last selection @lizzy-matthews. There are also bonus fics that I wrote that weren’t part of a challenge, which is also totally fine. For example here is one fic that I wrote from rp’ing with @mila-regan. We contacted each other over tumblr messaging and acted out how the scene would go. I think she wrote a fic for it too, but I don’t remember. You can check her blog though if you want to see if it’s there.

Hi! So, about the roleplay fics we'll write if selected, do we write only things said and done by our character and her maids, or we can write a conversation with another person?

You will roleplay with the other characters created by other people, as well as any of the royal family, played by most likely me. Any other characters who you choose to write conversations with will be totally up to your imagination. It is allowed (in the sense that I can’t really stop you) though not polite to write about a conversation in your fics that includes another character created by another person, who you didn’t rp (roleplay) with. For example, say your character’s name is Mary and there’s another person who entered the Selection whose name is Ella. If you write about a conversation that happened between Mary and Ella, but didn’t talk to Ella’s creator about the conversation first, that’s a little rude because Ella’s creator therefore had no say in what his/her character said or did during the conversation.

Any tips for someone who just learned about the oc? How it works exactly?

So basically the Selection OC is made up of a series of challenges, where I will give you a prompt about what is happening in the Selection, and you will have to write a fic, post some pictures, edit a video, etc. to fulfill the prompt. Usually we will roleplay using tumblr messaging to have conversations between your character and the prince, or your character and other characters if you so wish. There are also group chats and such for the girls to get together and talk, and overall it’s just a really fun way to hang out and meet new people! (Although this time you won’t know exactly who you’re talking to until the end.)

The post of the oc should be reblogged on my normal tumblr or on my character's one?

It doesn’t matter, the reblog is mainly just to help get the word out for anyone else who may be interested. With that intent, it would probably be better from your main blog, but it really doesn’t matter.

So I came up with the idea to have my OC (Calista P. Ledger) be visually impaired AFTER I submitted the form. So if the OC gets Selected, is it okay to add that detail in later? (She's gonna be legally blind with ocular albinism and nystagmus in case you need the detail now to tweak the application)

Yeah, you’re welcome to change your characters in any way you want once they’ve been Selected. I realize there’s a lot of time between the application and being Selected, so there’s plenty of time to think of something new for your character. If there are any major changes (such as faceclaim age or caste) then you should let me know ASAP after being Selected, but other than that, characterization elements (such as being visually impaired or other disabilities/unique elements) don’t even need to be vocally announced, you can let them be discovered during the Selection! :)

About how many more entries do you need for the selection oc?

The ABSOLUTE minimum is 5 more, but 10+ is preferable, in case there are any early dropouts.

Can we start to rp with our oc accounts before the selected are revealed? or should we wait?

If you want to rp as in actually in character, I would say wait because the Selected haven’t been announced yet, so your character would not be at the palace yet, nor would she have met any of the other Selected, since they’re all from different provinces. If you want to post anything on your blog that’s relevant to your character, but not relevant to the Selection, then you’re welcome to do that.
