Kaj was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. He had a somewhat rough childhood, and learned how to survive in the lower-class boroughs of the city, dabbling into not-so-legal activities from time to time. His best friend, Matthias, joined him in these activities. He learned to run and to fight, as well as handle weapons, and was gradually adopted into an illegal street gang.
At the age of 15, he died in the midst of a fight with a rival gang. After a few hours, he reappeared, alive, far enough from the place of the incident for it not to be linked. From then on, he found out that he was able to skirt around death in that way, reviving unscathed a few hours later. He only told his friend Matthias about this.
Kaj moved to Boston when he was 18, and found a job as a paid assassin and thief / burglar under the mafia. He spent five years working for them, taking jobs and using his special ability to disappear without a trace when needed. In August 2014, he attempted suicide, but it did not manage to kill him. The cause for it was the pressure from his superiors to use his ability for purposes he did not agree with, in addition to discovering that Matthias was behind his ability to resurrect due to his place as Composer, thus putting his life and his only special ability in his hands. After several months of therapy, he recovered and resumed his job.
In the summer of 2015, after a dangerous coup against another of the influential families in Boston, his life was publically put in danger, preventing him from further use of his ability until public attention died down. He managed to escape Boston and arrived at Tokyo, settling in and beginning to work closely with certain factions of the yakuza, thanks to referrals from the branches of organized crime from Boston. In hiding until things calmed down at Boston, he spent a few months without dying.
That is, until yesterday.
