The “Anything but a Black Woman,” trope.
I would argue that this trope is a sister to the disposable black girlfriend trope. However, instead the writers disposing of the black character, the fandom will. By using rhetoric that the black character “is in the way,” Or they “give friend vibes,” or even lying and claiming they like the black character and as “she deserves better….” Than the man who dotes and loves her.
Arcane — Jayce and Mel… do I even need to say this one?
Boy Meets World — Shawn and Angela… i despise the writers for ruining them.
Challenges — Art, Patrick and Tashi…
Dune — Paul and Chani… some people want him with his cousin Feyd-Rautha.
Daredevil — Matt and Claire
GENV — Marie and Jordan… the discourse about their pairing is pmo.
Good Omens — Nina and Maggie
Glee — Sam and Mercedes… they ended up together in my world.
Harry Potter — Fred/ George and Angelina… the only girl both were with canonically but apparently the fandom doesn’t value it.
House of The Dragon — Daemon and Laena, Jace and Baela. Mind you, Laena was the love of Daemon’s life, and people would preferred to ship Jace with Cregan.
High School Musical — Chad and Taylor, apparently he’s using her as a beard to disguise his feelings for Ryan.
High School Musical, the Musical, the Series — Rickey and Gina
Invincible — Mark and Amber. Unfortunately they race swapped Amber to make her disposable.
Love Island — every franchise, but apparently Nic and Olandria this season “give friends” despite having undeniable chemistry.
Merlin — Arthur and Gwen… but you claim he’s using her as a beard to get to Merlin.
Mickey 17 — all Mickey’s and Nasha… but instead people want selfcest instead to admit that every version of him loves a black woman.
Outer Banks — Pope and Cleo… barely see any edits for these two, it’s all about him and JJ unfortunately. And mind you, he’s killed for her.
Percy Jackson Olympians — Percy and Annabeth… apparently they give friendship vibes and he actually should be with Grover.
Pretty Little Liars — Emily and Maya, they killed my girl off.
Riverdale — Sweetpea and Josie, Archie and Josie, Archie and Josephine.
Sinners — Sammie and Pearline… people ship him with Remmick.
Shadowhunters — Simon and Maia
Spider-Man — Peter and MJ
Star Trek — Spock and Uhura
Suits — Mike and Rachel, Harvey and Jessica.
Teen Wolf — Derek and Braeden… people prefer to ship him with a child and claim she’s a placeholder.
The Bear — Carmen and Sydney… Sydney with anyone.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier — Bucky and Sarah… they claim now he isn’t mentally ready for a relationship but ship him with anyone and everyone else.
The Flash — Barry and Iris… Barry has been yearning for this woman for all season but apparently they give siblings despite fandoms shipping relatives and siblings.
The Pitt — Michael and Dottoressa… they want this man with Whitaker.
The Vampire Diaries — Aya and Elijah, Bonnie and Damon… (anyone Bonnie was paired with, both canonically and in fanon).
The Walking Dead — Rick and Michone, yet many people believe he has a stronger bond with Daryl. There’s Daryl and Connie too.
Thor — Thor and Valkyrie… and here’s another fandom who ship siblings… him and Loki.
Twisted — Danny and Lacey. There’s show flopped when the writers broke them up and I was delighted. Even the writers knew that and tried throwing Lacey in the viewers faces because they were losing viewers.
Yellowjackets — Taissa and Simone… unfortunately Simone was a victim to the disposable black gf trope along with their son Sammie.
911 Nashville — Blue and Taylor… I’m hearing they are shipping him with his brother.
Admit you don’t like black woman and stop hiding behind these “ships”.
