I did a collaboration with five other people. We based our design on space and constellations. I've included an image on my on my section alone, along with our tester section and all the panels in the correct positions. Each panel is A3, so it wasn't a small final piece. We all included our own styles within, whilst still creating one image. Let's see how the actual printing goes!
Many continuous line drawings later, I've ended up with a whole wardrobe. I actually really enjoyed doing small sections of drawing, especially on coloured paper. The creases and wrinkles in the shorts have my drawings more dimension, which made for a better outcome.
I went around the local town to look for letters of the alphabet in anything and everything. So here's the best ones I could find that day. It was quite a fun task. Lovely to do on a warm day. I would hate to do this in the cold.
Having clay and wire be apart of the same project and having one focus of squares, circles, and triangles, really made this project fascinating. I really enjoyed working with wire and plan on using it more in the future. We'll see how it goes with the clay.
Sketching in 3D was a very new and different experience for me. Personally, I don't like it and I don't intend on doing it again in the future. Although it was interesting and I'm glad I had an opportunity to try it out.
Created a design sheet to show the process of this project. Showing primary and secondary research, and ideas how how to use my final pieces by clips from magazines. I’m actually pleased with the magazine clips as I think each image works well together.
For textiles, we used screen-printing. It was enjoyable watching the patterns unwind onto the material used. I find it very aesthetically pleasing to view the negative space design, although don’t find the appeal of the other design printed over it. The squiggles appear to be intertwined with each other, and it gives it a continuous affect which I believe gives the piece some flexibility.
We come back to another drawing Tuesday. Here we had to use random objects as our drawing tools as well as drawing ink. I found this to be really enjoyable and with different objects you could make very different marks which could create extraordinary images. I have there in the order I believe to be more eye-catching to the least.
From the designs that I had created, I then went on to create stencils using acetate. I chose the swirls because I love the moment within them. I also chose this other design that’s made up of loads of small markings, almost like dots. From what I cut out so far, it’s becoming a big regret.
On the rotation this week, we’ll be going into the textiles workshop. The brief was to do sound drawings and develop patterns from them. I’m not too fond of the sound drawings themselves but the outcome with the pattern turned out rather nicely in my opinion.
cut out all the leaves! For summer…took me 2 hours to do this all by hand on the fret saw. Have to peel off the protective layers on each side of them now. It’s so fiddly. Next time I’m going to remove the protective layers prior and use a laser cutter instead.
Started the Perspex project, following the brief of cycles. I’ve sketched out and cut out the tree form and will carry of with adding the little details tomorrow.
With this, there were three briefs given. The first (first picture) was to draw what your first impression of the other campus was from memory within 10 minutes. The second (third picture) was to go around and sketch a minimum of three things that took your interest. The third and final brief (second picture) was to take the sketches you did during the second brief and transfer them onto your first piece from earlier. Note: the upper two pictures (same piece) are A2 whilst the bottom one is A4.
This was the day we thought of ideas based around the theme of cycles. The end goal is to make a creation out of Perspex (acrylic plastic). I came up with quite a few ideas, as shown, and I’m planning of basing my project around seasons and the idea of it in the form of a tree. The idea is that I create two pieces of the tree with two seasons on each piece (summer/winter & autumn/Spring). I’ll place slits in the pieces, top centre of one, bottom centre of the other. Once these are placed on the correct place, they should hopefully form a 3D creation.
