Then Judith Curry retired her blog, opining that "It's time to declare victory against climate stupidity and move on."
Then The Guardian published an article lamenting that less than 5% of UK media outlets have used the recent European heat wave as an excuse to promote Net Zero propaganda.
And now even The New York Times is waving the white flag on the climate Armageddon story... well, kind of.
So, what on earth is happening? How did we go from a world where the climate apocalypse was touted as an existential threat to life on earth and trumpeted on the news every single day to a world where climate change isn't even on the radar anymore?

So in my state (east coast USA, middle-ish) it has been a joke that our seasons go: winter, false spring, second winter, rain, road work season, hot as balls, fall, and winter again. Well that keeps getting worse/more distinct as we go on. Like false spring used to be a couple weeks of relatively warm weather, now it’s long and warm enough that the trees make leaves which all get cased in ice during second winter a few weeks later. And this year we had 6 inches of solid ice on our whole area for like 10 days straight, like we were in Alaska or something.
I’m wondering if, instead of a second dust bowl or ice age, maybe we are heading towards a shorter seasonal rotation instead? Like we end up officially having 2 winters with ice per year with super hot short summers between? That would be devastating for agriculture, which we also have a lot of.
I just don’t see any sci-fi movies about that being a possibility. What a missed opportunity.
