Mom and dad thought about adopting from the local shelters but didn’t think it was the best idea. They had two young children under the age of 4-years-old and didn't know how well an older dog would be with them. To be on the safe side for both dog and children they decided to get a puppy from a breeder. They spent a few months doing research on dog breeds and breeders around their area. They came cross a private breeder that just recently had a litter. The breeder only had me and my doggy parents on site. Mom, dad and the oldest of my child came to see me. They spent 15 minutes with me and my doggy parents to make sure our temperament was good and to ensure the breeder had a clean kennel. They decided I would be the perfect dog. They took me home at 7 weeks, close to my 8 weeks of age. I was scared of my new forever home. It was different and smaller than my old home. The noise in the house was very loud and there were so many children running around yelling. I wasn’t use to that at all. It took me about two weeks before I started to get comfortable with my family. It helped out a lot because there was another dog in the house. I first got use to the two youngest children of the house. I would run and chase them all over the house. Then the oldest of the children (daughter) would start to play catch with me. The second oldest child (son) would start to play tug’o’war with me. It became a routine with everyone. My favorite part of my day is playing tug’o’war, it really doesn’t matter with who I play with as long as I spend at least 30 minutes to an hour with my family. Mom and dad started to train me early. The good thing where it only takes me about 4 or 5 times before I understand the tricks. The harder ones take me a little longer to learn. I always love to please my pawrents, and I’m willing to learn as many new tricks as I can. When I'm bored I will barely listen to my pawrents and try to do my own thing. Mom is just as stubborn as me, she won’t let me walk away. I have learned how to sit, stay, down, up, jump, catch balls in the air, roll over and give high fives. One of my best tricks so far is roll over and high fives. Currently, I’m learning how to shake paws, speak and play dead. The play dead and speak ones are pretty hard tricks and mom is trying to find easier ways to teach me those tricks. Just because I love to learn new tricks, mom is always going to find different tricks to teach me. The best part about learning new tricks, is spending a lot of time with my family. I get at least 1 to 1 ½ hours of family time just learning something new. I can be a very over protective pup. I’m friendly and well socialize. I do get uncomfortable with strangers that get to close to one of my family members, especially one of my children. I will bark at people to give them a warning that they are getting into my uncomfortable zone. It's rare that I would do that to people. Mom and dad don’t let people pet me when we walking to places because that’s when I do get over protective of my family. I honestly don’t know why I’m like that, maybe it’s because I can’t always watch my family's back when I’m walking. I do look back every few minutes to ensure that everyone is safe and always with me. Now when I’m at the dog park, I’m friendly goofy dog with no worries in the world. I really love to go to the dog park, that’s the only place I enjoy outside 100%. I love meeting new furiends and their pawrents. It always fun making new furiends. The fun part is when we get to chase each other around the park. The only thing I don’t like is when other dogs try to jump on me. I would always run back to my pawrents when that happens, so they could stop the other dogs from jumping on top of me. Some of the pawrents are afraid of me because they think I’m a police dog and would hurt them or their dogs. Some people would yell at mom or dad and tell them to keep a muzzle and leash on me at all times because I will bite. I think my pawrent would know if I would bite someone or another animal. They wouldn’t take me to a public park if that’s the case. Just because I’m a German shepherd doesn’t mean I’m going to hurt someone.
