Him? He wants to fight an alien? Venom sneered in his mind and Eddie cleared his throat after an initial awkward pause, realising he looked unnecessarily shifty. "— Uh, yeah, yeah. You're probably right, I'd say it's more than possible, really, with space being vast and endless and all that." He shrugged, looking away as Venom began to taunt them both. C'mon, let's give him a fight, Eddie, he asked for it! "Not really sure why they'd - come here, though. Y'know, to Earth specifically. They're better off staying where they belong." That finally cut the alien off. Hey! You said you wanted me to stay. Why are you trying to look cool in front of this wimp? You aren't cool, Eddie. I am the cool one, just like he said. Though he managed to restrain his verbal argument, Eddie couldn't help but roll his eyes in response, glancing away from the stranger.

Whilst getting drunk with Fiona had been a fun and eventful night so far, Beck knew she’d already had far too much, and it hadn’t even hit midnight yet. She’d come outside for some fresh air, but that had only worsened the buzz, the ground feeling as though it were spinning beneath her. She was considering calling Matt to pick her up when she saw a man she recognised, keeled over a few steps away from her. “Eddie?” Beck squinted as she got closer, wondering if he’d also took the celebrations too far. “It’s Beck, from work. You know me, right?” She grimaced, trying to steady herself. “You don’t like the Spice Girls? You don’t look great. Maybe you should come inside.”

Eddie held in a scream, hands clamped over his ears as he felt the song vibrate through to his core. Any distraction, any reprieve would be welcome, now unsure how he’d ever get out of there. As if someone had heard his pleas, a voice called his name. With strenuous effort, Eddie lifted his head to look at her, recognising her instantly. With the song’s chorus over, concentrating on her voice proved a welcome break.

Oooh, yes, we know her! Eddie, tell her we know her. “Oh. Uh, hey. Hi, Beck. Yeah.” Sheepishly, he waved in greeting, knowing he looked as bad as he felt. “I’m - no, I love them, I do. I- I’m all for Posh.” What?! You loser. Scary is the best! “I just -” He winced. “It’s a little… loud.” Grateful for the offer, he and Venom both nodded enthusiastically. Yes! “Yes! Please, I mean. That’d be a good idea. You don't have any - any music on, do you?"

Bloody hell, he’s had a bit too much, eh? He looks wasted. “Yeah, I know, Steven. Shut up and let me handle it. I’m in control tonight, remember?” Marc spoke, seemingly to himself, before beginning to approach the stranger. Marc had forcibly chosen to host the body this evening, knowing the streets would be lined with drunken enhanced, which he didn’t deem Steven able to handle. They hadn’t ran into any trouble so far, but Marc had a suspicion this might be it, considering the state of the man he’d come across. “You look awful, man. Maybe you should make your way home.” Well that’s a bit rude, maybe he just needs some help.

“Oh, do I? Do I look awful?” Eddie huffed, hunched over, sweat dripping down his brow. We don’t look awful! He looks awful! “That’s great, cool, I’m glad I look awful,” he muttered, trying to stand upright — but the thumping pain in his skull, the way the world blurred in front of him whenever he moved, made that incredibly tough. “Home? No, not home. Can you maybe - fuck!” Finally, the song reached its conclusion, and everything grew quiet for a moment. Feeling instant reprieve, Eddie moved fast, grabbing the stranger by the shirt collar, looking at him for the first time. “Hey, man, can you help me get out of here, like, straight out of town? Right now, just- just take me to the edge or something, I don’t give a shit.” I was wrong, Eddie, he doesn’t look awful. He actually looks delicious — “Shut up!”

Although Rey was used to handling confrontation, she found herself stepping back as the man bit down on an old car part, on guard and perplexed. “I don’t understand what’s happening here,” she muttered, mostly to herself. She’d felt the toll of hunger plenty of times before now, but she’d never attempted to eat metal. From what she understood, the rebels never allowed this level of desperation; there was definitely more to the story. And Rey’s natural curiosity took precedence over her desire to run. “Alright, well - none of that is edible, so leave it. I have some tesserae left, you can have some, if you’re that hungry.”

Grumbling to himself, and Venom, Eddie paid no attention to the onlooker, trying to focus his senses on hunting down something actually edible. Unfortunately for that same onlooker, she was certainly edible. Eddie’s head whipped toward her at the word ‘hungry’, eyes filling in black, then white, as Venom took hold for a moment. Eat. Eat! “No!” Eddie shouted, breaking free just as he’d lunged for her.

He stumbled back, forcing himself to stand still. “Stop it!” You stop it. “We don’t eat people.” Since when?! “I won’t let you do it. I won’t.” Oh, c’mon, Eddie, she’s right there! And she smells so good! Ignoring the alien, Eddie lifted his hand slowly, limb shaking with effort, palm outstretched as he looked at the woman. “I’ll take the tesserae. Please.” He asked through gritted teeth. Yuck! I don’t want that!

Rey sat cross legged in a pile of what would probably seem like junk to anyone else, messing with broken components and stray wires. Noticing someone approach, she instantly rose into a defensive stance, a unconscious response that could only be explained by her upbringing in District Ten. There was no honour amongst scavengers, and she didn't want her findings stolen. “Hey, don’t touch that! I need it. I need all of this.”

“No, no, but it’s mine, it’s mine — “ Eddie growled, rummaging through the pile madly. He’d just been struck down by a relentless surge of hunger, and with the help of Venom’s speed, found himself on the other side of town, grasping for anything that could be edible. He bit down on something random, and the taste of metal instantly filled his mouth. Eddie shouted, spitting it all back out again. “Fuck’s sake,” he muttered, shuddering in disgust. “I just wanna eat, I just wanna.. I just wanna eat.”

“Maybe it’s not so bad,” Eddie muttered to himself, pacing the streets. He was trying to put some distance between him and the party he’d just stumbled upon, one he usually would’ve loved to attend on New Years, but it was as if all the strength had been suddenly zapped from him. “It’s okay, it’s okay. Just gotta get - just want it… off!" He began to shout, unable to control the feeling. "God, Jesus, can somebody just turn that shit off?! I can’t — ”

Tyler had been minding his own business, walking through town, when he heard it. Lydia’s scream caused him to flinch uncontrollably, hunching over and clutching his ears, although he was certain she wasn’t anywhere nearby. It was a sound he’d heard only once before in volume and desperation; in the Capitol before he’d helped rescue her. The noise dragged on, and it hurt, burning through his skull. But as painful as the wail sounded, it wasn’t Lydia that was injured, crying out for help. If her weird knowledge of Jackson’s death was anything to go by, it was someone else that needed help. Or, rather, had needed it. That cry only meant they were too late, even he understood that, despite his previous disbelief. “That was Lydia - that means…” Tyler’s breath shortened, panic rising in chest. Although he often acted cold and aloof, the rebels were family, and they’d all sworn to protect one another. “Shit. What do we do?”

“God damnit — ” Eddie fell to his knees, the scream mirroring his own as Venom threatened to tear right out of him, skin stretching. He’d fallen near a stranger, the pair of them hunched over in pain; though Eddie took longer to recover once the woman had stopped. Shaking with exhaustion, Eddie collapsed to the ground instead, Venom still reeling from the sonic attack. “I don’t care, I don’t - I don’t give a shit,” he muttered in response, barely concentrating. “It’s over. Just let it be over.”
