This is what our CoFounders had to say on the subject of ‘Dream Teams’, or Ideal Teams that are the cornerstone of all startups and companies of global ambitions. We based our vision of an Ideal Team on Dave McClure`s theory that we found in 500 Startups and we got the hang of it thanks to the presentation by Piotr Wilam of Innovation Nest during KrakSpot (http://bit.ly/1yxvWR9). The foundations of an Ideal Team in startup environment are not the hyped-up abbreviations like ‪#‎CFO‬ / ‪#‎CTO‬/ ‪#‎CMO‬ etc. but 3xH: ‪#‎Hipster‬, ‪#‎Hustler‬ and ‪#‎Hacker‬! Let’s see how that works by looking at an example: ‪#‎edroneDreamTeam‬ 1. Michał is the Hipster – he breathes the product, he thinks like a customer and, most importantly, he’s got a great taste in UX/UI ‪#‎Design‬. There are only trace amounts of Hipsters in the B2B sector of ‪#‎BigData‬ technologies since they tend to focus on more lifestyle projects. A Hipster cannot be hired – he’s an ‪#‎Artist‬. Fortunately, Michał is an Academy of Fine Arts graduate! 2. Following that theory, our Hustler is Rahim ;). A Hustler is an energetic and organized ‪#‎Entrepreneur‬ who knows his sales and marketing techniques; is all about scale and is not afraid of competition. 3. Piotr is the Hacker. We’ve been looking for a guy like him for 6 years – like Michał, he too can’t be hired and has to be considered a family member. He spent 8 years working in the technological startup capital in Dublin, Ireland. The #Hacker’s job isn’t making technological miracles but providing security and reliability – we’re talking Big Data of Big Customers, so the guy who’s responsible for the technical side has to keep everything in order – in his own brain and in his servers.

The 3xH is the best team-building theory we know. It made us realize that a global-scale organization can only be built by a team whose members are completely different in terms of personality, competencies and even interests. Teams like that are ‘flat’ because none of the 3xH team members is more important than others. If your team is missing any of the three, you don’t have much chance of developing a spectacular ‪#‎Global‬‪ #‎Product‬. We’ve been observing many different ‪#‎startup‬`s that we know – they have (only) six-figures turnover but they all miss one of those 3 personalities and their competencies. It took us a few years to build that because a ‪#‎DreamTeam‬ is a ‪#‎Fundament‬ of any startup.
