You are my life, my love, my only || Willward
William accepted the glass of ice tea, his fingers closing delicately around the fragile stem, eyebrows pulling together in obvious confusion. His mouth gaped around the unspoken questions swirling on the tip of his tongue. It looked as if Edward was about to fall apart at the seams, worrying and pacing and rambling and shaking all at once. He wanted to reach out again and grab him so he could remind him that it was only him, only William- the same William he had been for the last three years and the same William he could tell anything to. He breathed out a sigh of relief when Edward finally got on with it and then he stopped breathing altogether, hanging onto each word that Edward spoke. His whole body felt numb, but at the same time he felt every nerve ending under his skin sparking up. William realized his hands started shaking when he felt a splash of tea over his knuckles. Unceremoniously, William dropped the glass against the table, sloshing some more tea over the rim, never taking his eyes off of Edward. And then the curtain was pulled back and William’s eyes almost popped out of their socket, the entirety of his insides collapsing in on itself. He blinked a couple of times and then, when the words didn’t change, he blinked a couple of more times. They did, however, blur a little when William’s eyes suddenly glossed over with tears, jaw flapping open like a fish. There was a ring in his hand, a real life ring to wear on his left ring finger and show everybody that Edward was his forever. It was a ring that Edward was asking him to wear because he wanted William to be his forever. His brain was short circuiting, producing nothing but a mess of singular words like marriage and forever and Edward and family . It took him a few moments for him to realize that Edward has asked that fateful question and was waiting for an answer. Like William would say anything but yes! “Oh my god,” William choked out, blinking away the tears clouding his vision so he could focus on Edward and capture this moment in his memory forever. “Oh my god!” He punctuated the exclamation with an excited whack on Edward’s shoulder, bouncing up on the balls of his feet. “Yes! Is that even a question, oh my god. Yes Edward, a million times over yes.” William sucked in a huge breath and dropped harshly to his knees, cupping his shaky hands around Edward’s cheeks and letting out a wet giggle. “Yes, oh my goodness. I love you so much, wow. We’re going to be married!”
Edward let out a small chuckle and murmured an "Ouch." when William slapped his shoulder, even though it didn't actually hurt. "A million times over yes," he repeated breathlessly, the words causing his stomach to flip, and suddenly Edward's vision became blurry due to the tears now developing in his eyes. "You you said yes." Edward grinned excitedly, leaning into William's touch. "You're my fiance now! I'm your fiance now." Edward started to lean in for kiss until he realized the silver band that was still in his hand, "Oh! Let me see your hand, yeah?" Gently, Edward grabbed William's hand and slid the ring onto his left ring finger. "There. I think it looks perfect." Kissing William's palm, Edward then pressed his lips against William's, one hand cupping the back of William's neck. "I can't believe we're engaged!" Edward rested his forehead against William's and smiled, "I've been so nervous for weeks. I just wanted everything to be perfect, you know? I know it's not a crazy flash-mob or whatever, but these photos mean a lot. I mean, look at all the memories." Edward's eyes scanned the photos around them until they landed on a photo of William and Edward on the couch. William was giving the camera a crinkly eye grin while Edward pouted, his curls tied in tiny pigtails. "You look at these photos and you can watch us fall in love. You can watch us grow. It's crazy," he said softly, his eyes returning to William's face. "I can't wait to take more.. as fiances, and you know, eventually husbands." Edward's heart fluttered at the words "fiances" and "husbands, and quickly his lips were connected to William's once again. "I love you so, so, much."
