Ed was totally in love with Ariana, who got sick and might have died. Meanwhile, he hooked up with Kayla, who might have killed herself after he got her pregnant. It was so unclear. Either way, she's dead now. So to make up for it, he's sleeping routinely with Chloe, who doesn't really care about him and is only in it for the sex.
