it is coming back to me that in my dream last night, i noticed a wound on the pad of my index finger. i went to bed, but upon awakening the next day, a white ring bordering the wound had materialized, like when your finger gets wet from being in the water but only around the lesion. the ring caressed a small puncture-like hole that extended as if it were a peephole down to the bone, small in diameter but deep. it was the pointer finger of my right hand and i had a show that evening, i.e., a necessity for playing bass. i went to touch around the abrasion to further inspect it, which immediately prompted all the skin at the top of my finger to peel off, like a banana with ragdoll mechanics, revealing the red flesh and bone underneath. there was nothing i could do to stop it; it continued rapidly, defying any laws of biology or physics. i helplessly attempted to bring all the pieces of skin back together with my other hand and cover the flesh with a bandaid (which i logically knew would not help), but as you can imagine, i was unequivocally stressed because i knew i had to play bass later and my finger had just disintegrated. no remembrance of the show occurring, but my tour manager from europe 2025, lauren, was there, and also our sound tech, brendan. no other characters to my knowledge.
