before things get reeallly messy on my blog here are some tag guides
or whatever tumblrers call them
#now on ting develops carpal tunnel from finger painting - art tag
#pay 1 dollar to shut ting up - rambles + other things i say tag
#ting reblogs(shocking) - reblog tag (though i'll only be reblogging my friends' stuff)
why the long and specific tag names you ask. It is because i dont want another user with the same name as me to want to use hashtag ting art or ting rambles but finding that it is already taken by a fiend such as myself
i enjoy the fact that prsk did not straight up villainize mafuyu's mom.and i gotta lotta thoughts on this one
Obviously tw for abuse + spoilers for/mentions of mafu6 story in case you haven't read it yet,, ramblings under cut
mafuyu's mom was presented in mafu6 to be genuinely making an effort to make home life better for mafuyu, now that she has realized just how damaging her actions were. even if this ended in no real progress being made, with mafuyu being forced to live with kanade once more, it is evident that her mom has sincerely put care and thought into making up for her actions (e.g. having many talks with mafuyu's dad, seeking counseling, catching herself when she realizes she's making the same mistakes again - even if too late).
i very much enjoy how this aspect of mafuyu's story was written, as it sheds light on the complexities that can realistically lie within this specific kind of household dynamic.
mafuyu's mom genuinely did not realize she was doing something considered abusive until mafuyu's breaking point, and with her own unresolved issues, had to find a way to cope with this sudden self-awareness and simultaneously act on it. i do not believe her tears were that of a 'crocodile's', she herself is implied to have her own 'issues', and many of us can definitely understand the feeling of being unable to stop ourselves from crying or vocalizing negative self-opinion. Yet, her own pain undoubtedly also pains mafuyu. it's a vicious cycle of sorts.
fixing this is made all the more difficult when 1, the victim has no choice but to live in the same environment as the abuser. and 2, no matter how much either side understand about each other now, there is no reversing harm or undoing effects of either of their struggles/behaviors. the root issue lies within mafuyu's mom herself, not her relationship with mafuyu. they're trying to mend something that cannot be mended until mafuyu's mom resolves her personal struggles. and this would require space, as she is unfit to play the role of a parent as things stand right now.
it is also important to think about the love they have for each other. mafuyu has been incredibly understanding despite being a child + all that she has been through. she understands for a fact that her mom has been trying and that she genuinely cares, and that it hurts her mom to fail again even if she's already made so much progress by just acknowledging her toxic behavior. the real villain here is both sides' fruitless struggle to achieve real progress (intent and feeling aside) - that one mistake might cost both of them. thus begins the vicious cycle.
it never sat right with me that a huge majority of the prsk fandom were so hell-bent on villainizing mafuyu's mom (even before mafu6). Please do not take this as me saying i defend mafumom's actions; the effects that her actions have had on mafuyu are detrimental, and she is undeniably not a good parent. however, i do appreciate that she is written as a complex and realistic character.
all things said and done, what i hope to get across with this is my appreciation for prsk writing again, as well as my thoughts about the overall message that essentially everybody is human and humans do make fatal mistakes, which do involve hurting and even scarring others - most often without our own self-awareness. it happens more commonly than we think, and what's scary is that we may be blind to it, no matter how obviously bad it is.
so in a case Like This, it's also important to not be dehumanizing towards the abuser while taking into account the suffering their actions have caused.
"but ting my head hurts!! its too complex!!!" it's supposed to be. peace
I definitely think that making every bad parent in fiction to be inherently evil is harmful to the visibility of IRL parental abuse (and I've also seen mafuyus mother being defended on these grounds as well, even though I dont think she should be defended simply because she's realistic since that is often not an excuse)

i very much think prsk is angstbaiting you tsukasa fans
the whole point of Towards the phoenix at the sky's edge and Deep dark for light is basically to show you how tsukasa Isn't Angsty Whatsoever because he is able to take otherwise negatively perceived actions(??) as ones that are positive.
in towards the phoenix at the sky's edge you would assume Oh man he's crying. He's actually crying.this is bad. but actually the entire point of that event was to show something GOOD!!! like tsukasa can now allow himself to feel his negative emotions after years of suppression!!! Not an angst event whatsoever
in deep dark for light(also being an event that drove everyone crazy upon release because.Oh man he's despairing. actually despairing. this is bad.) the entire point would be to show you there is no chance tsukasa would ever give up on his dreams. the entire purpose of that story was to emphasize his never-give-up attitude and how he Doesn't Feel Despair. Which bytheways has been a theme since the goddamn main story
Anyway while we're here I personally really dislike it when people say tsukasa's 'ill' or 'something's wrong with him' solely for feeling severely inferior and working to the point of starving or having nightmares. like this isn't the first time ambitious people sacrifice vital things in favor of progression....like said ambitious people aren't all incredibly self-critical....like tsukasa isn't canonically an overall health freak and doesn't take care of himself....like he didn't canonically own multiple self-help books....
I assure you if his 'illness' related to method acting was the main focus in his arc it would have been hinted at/brought up many events before Sob s Stop squeezing angst out of this fella out of all the fellas this is copium if ive ever seen copium

^this guy saw his favourite character of all time Tenma tsukasa in Winning ticket. and i want to talk about their INCREDIBLY STRONG similarities
1. both have incredibly strong childhood dreams beginning by witnessing a singular event, and are presently still pursuing them with their whole heart. for tsukasa, it's seeing the show that day that made saki smile, and for winning ticket, it's watching her first derby. they're both incredibly passionate about their respective dreams, and have made up their minds to chase them as long as they live.
2. both have been forced to stare failure directly in the face, yet managed to rebound incredibly quickly. tsukasa in phoenix with the actor he looked up to, and winning ticket when she lost against hayahide and taishin. they were both struck with the shock that they were inferior to those they had been chasing all along, all after feeling secure with their dreams and believing they were somewhat on the same level as said people. though they hit lower points than most when it comes to low points, the strength they gain from standing back up afterwards is unmatched.
3. both are determined not to let their supporters down as they chase their dreams. for tsukasa it's the smiles on his audience's faces, for ticket it's the cheers and encouragement of her fans. they place so much care into ensuring each and every one of those smiling faces is because of them, from them, for them, because they've earned it and will never stop earning it.
4. both have a theme where their 'weaknesses' are their greatest strengths. over his focuses, tsukasa is limited by his own ability, whether physical or mental or otherwise. after winning ticket's brutal loss, she finds herself in a paralyzing fear of losing that seems a deeper wound than others around her bear. however, they overcome this not by facing, denying, or ignoring said obstacles - they embrace it as part of themselves, then as a strength - and that's the way they continue forward, better than before.
yeah that's all. also they're pretty 'extreme'(/pos) people in terms of how they embody and i mean Embody their passions. put them in a room together and you'll be hearing the words Derby and Star shouted every 3 seconds
also Loud weird people. the shut up counter from their peers @ them is off the charts
i am thinking dragon god who has not had a peek of the mortal realm for eons and the first thing he encounters is Really good modern Food and what do you know the chef, dessert shop owner, and baker respectively are behind it all
