another post from me, hello. yesterday i briefly mentioned the gang bosses, but today i will go into them.
the entire gag of eklyreverse (still need a better name...) is that its urban fantasy - dnd mixed with the godfather, almost. so the mob bosses arent just dons, theyre Literally the gods.
in san marquette, there are six gods. they go as follows:
lustris, the god of the sun and life itself. he appears to be a older half-elf.
ylta, the god of the moon and the concept of death. she is a changeling, but in her typical form is a thin human woman.
phiadia, the self proclaimed god of justice. she was an aasimar, and her ascent to godhood exacerbated her conflated views of herself as the chosen to lead and protect her people.
answered riddle, the god of trickery and luck. they are a tabaxi with the appearance of a grey maine cat, and have grown greedy and cruel with immortality.
birch, the god of the natural world. being a satyr they were always in touch with the fauna of the city, but ascending allowed them to truly cultivate and protect the wildlife.
and tempest, the outcast of the sea. she was a merman, or a water genasi, and did not take to immortality well.
there are two tiers of godhood. lustris and ylta are the original concepts of life and death, and they were birthed with the universe itself. they are older than time and together have grown and changed with their reality, but because of this ancient nature they dont view mortals as true beings. they are moreso insects, or toys.
this led to the creation of the other gods. having lived millenia, lustris and ylta wanted to change things up and entertain themselves, and so over the years they would witness a mortal come into ylta's grasp - someone on the cusp of death, ready to pass. and they would instead gift that person immortality.
more of a pseudo-god compared to lustris and ylta, as the two pillars could still take away their immortality whenever they decided to. but they would let them live out their new endless lives like ants to be studied, because what is more interesting than a mortal creature blessed with godhood?
only four of the gods are bosses - lustris, ylta, phiadia and riddle. lustris is more interested in Fun than anything else. his region is saturated in nightlife and booze, hedonists aplenty, and he sits atop his throne with a detached, amused visage. he isnt really interested in hurting people conventionally, just whatever will grant him the most entertainment.
phiadia however, like i said before, viewed her gift as a sign that she was the true chosen. she was the first to be blessed. her region is mostly the best place to live, you will be provided for and can have a good life. phiadia does truly care for those who reside in her territory, but she is egotistical and thinks only she knows what is best for the world. she does not appreciate resistence.
riddle too let the power go to their head, becoming a hedonistic and cruel boss built on exploitation. they are greedy, they do not care about protecting others - their territory is a den of violence and poverty.
no one knows what yltas land is like. no one ever comes in or out.
