\\ as a brief heads up, I'm going to be writing some solo posts for Siobhan regarding her past and her marriage but it revolves very heavily around the concepts of domestic violence and body horror. I plan on tagging both, and keeping them under a cut but you've been forewarned.

What we left behind
@el-sacrificio
Everyone gets caught up in their past. No matter when, no matter how, it happened and Zayn still wasnât sure why he thought he could have evaded it. Could have run, could have hidden in the shadows and run his own business
It worked, at first it did. With Simon at his back, theyâd built up something big, bigger than he would have thought it would be. Recruited former agents - Blackwatch and Overwatch alike and they were relieved to return to a work that was somewhat familiar to them.
A structure that wasnât too far off the old Overwatch, except for the lack of resources.
They had money, they had power, they had the strength to defeat everyone who stood in their way.
Zayn wasnât fucking around and neither did Simon.
They knew what they were doing. They were quick, precise, deadly, efficient.
Their clients paid well.
Gangs mostly.
Followed by governments who wanted to get rid of exactly those gangs.
And some things he did without pay.
Hunt down Talon.
Fight for justice. Help people where he could.
Food, supplies, medical aid.
He wanted them to know that Overwatch still cared about them, even if it was gone, even if they all went by another name these days.
He himself was known as The Wolf - feasting on his prey, brutally, mercilessly.
Leading the Liberators, his very own team of mercenaries, striking fear into the hearts of his enemies and leaving behind a trail of destruction unmatched in modern history.
He didnât care.
Zayn had a mission and he was damn well going to finish it.
Captain Singh.
No one had referred to him like this in what must have been six years by now and yet the tiny piece of paper he held in his hands, creased and blood stained at the edges addressed him as such.
Weâre coming for you. You canât hide.
Underneath the words, a distinctive red T was burned into the paper.
Talon.
Theyâd found him.
Theyâd found him and they were going to try and kill him.
Let them come.
Let them try.
The target didnât matter. The target never mattered, because she didnât go places unless there was a reason that a sharpshooter couldnât handle the problem. The problems that someone asked her to handle were specific problems. She didnât get details. She didnât know who they were. She just knew that she had to get it done. She knew that someone asked something of her, that she owed them everything, and that the work needed to be done.
Anyone to be an outlet.
The only question she ever asked was about time tables. How quickly it needed to be done. A precise operation was different than being out in the guts of a fight. This? This was⊠much more comfortable. Familiar. Rini Otsu caught Talonâs attention because of her ability to cause chaos and damage in a very persistent, resolute way. She did not stop until either she was dead or the target was. Sheâd always come back, and she wouldnât come back until the job was done.
Given what she had gathered, she would be gone for awhile. Subconsciously, she wondered if she should drag this out. Getting put up in a hotel was pretty nice all things considered. Rini couldnât think of the last time she slept in a bed that was large enough to really spread out â the answer, of course, being never. Canât remember something if it never happened. Sheâd been given a room as a base of operations, and told that someone would retrieve her if she didnât check back in on regular intervals. It was like being a teenager who got loaned the car.
Except, of course, the car came with murder.
Did she even think of it as murder anymore?
Did she ever think about it as murder?
Just something to keep her mind off of â
There he was.
Zayn must have known someone was following him, he wasnât stupid. He was a formidable enough target, sure, and he knew damned good and well that there was a target on his back â Talon made sure of that, and they must have understood that an intimidation play wasnât going to work. But still.
Someone was following him.
I have been noticing a lot of people being too nervous to talk to their mutuals when they want to roleplay with them soooo..
Please reblog this to tell your mutuals IT IS 100% OKAY to come up to you and tell you straight off the bat that they want to roleplay with you. In fact, itâs highly encouraged to tell you any thread idea that comes across their mind!
My brain power is on hiatus, please be patient.

"Rini."
She didn't have any questions yet, no concerns beyond whether or not someone would hold her and take her somewhere that it wasn't hot. Whoever these people were, they were going to take her home so she could take a bath and tell her mom and dad about all of this. She could go home, but... for now, being held was nice. Everything was scary and awful, but being held was nice.
Everything would be okay.
Everything would be okay.
How bad did it hurt?
("A lot. It was loud. It was really loud and my ears hurt,") coupled with more tearful admissions, followed by something unintelligible that had less to do with linguistic barriers and more to do with the fact that she was distraught and words were difficult when people were distraught.
She got a quick look at the chaos around her, and the whole disaster of it all seemed to hit the little girl full force. She held on tighter, closed her eyes tight, and tried to make it through the rest of it.
("Where is everybody?")
There is no one else.

Medics and Ashes
Japan - spring 2060
Rini Otsu had no idea what her parents did for a living. She just knew that the building was boring and not as tall as their apartment was. She knew that there were more than twenty steps to her momâs office and that the elevator went up super high and super-fast. Usually, when she was at the office it was because daycare was closed and her parents were working late. Rini had a nice, comfortable set up for a small child. She had her snacks shoved in cubby holes and office drawers and had been told under no uncertain terms that she was not allowed in the labs alone and if she did end up in the lab she was not supposed to eat anything there.
This, of course, meant nothing to a newly-minted four-year-old.
The lab was her favorite place to hide, and her favorite place to eat snacks and the lab very clearly had the best snacks.
So thatâs where she was when it all happened.
Whoever had designed the building had anticipated the kind of damage that could have happened to it; they knew exactly what kind of research was taking place there. They had anticipated the sort of damage that would happen to happen from inside the laboratory and not outside of it. Rini was the one place that she was not supposed to be, and that made all of the difference.
It was very loud. It was very sudden.
 It was very dark.
If Rini had been anywhere except for where she was, she would have been crushed. How was she supposed to know that sheâd displaced top secret information when sheâd staked her claim on the cabinet in the lab? How was Rini supposed to know that through some sheer dumb luck sheâd shoved herself in what was essentially the companyâs equivalent of the black box in an airplane? That the things sheâd decided to color on today were actually important?
All she knew now was that she wanted out. That her head hurt. That she didnât feel good and it was hot and it was hot and it was hot and she hurt she hurt she hurt itâs loud itâs loud itâs loud itâs loud-
And she was stuck.
Rini was scared and she was stuck and she hurt, it hurt, it hurt â
So she screamed. Nobody knew she was here, something broke, she wasnât supposed to be in the lab and now she was in trouble and all she could think of doing was screaming her address over and over and over because it was the only thing she knew to do. If she got lost, she needed to know her address. If she told someone her address, they would take her home. She wanted to go home. She wanted to go home. She wanted to go home.
people donât really get that in japanese culture, respecting your elders is an astronomically bigger deal. like, hanzo was literally pressured from birth to fit into this role for him, and the entire perspective is so drastically different than western standpoint allows that i donât even know if itâs even POSSIBLE for non asian people to understand.Â
hereâs the fact: hanzo has PTSD, he was psychologically scarred from what happened, and his stifled, fluctuating anger comes from the fact that in japanese culture, there just isnât a way that youâre meant to express that. the weight of his emotions is something that he is not emotionally or psychologically equipped to handle in the context of his culture. until you understand this, no, you cannot judge him.
hanzo gets so much unnecessary shit from the fandom when he and genji were both complete victims of circumstance. thereâs no other way to frame it. people just donât get that psychological tangles and concepts of that nature are just, viewed so differently in japan. hanzo didnât get to feel conflict, thatâs not how it fucking works. he doesnât get to yell at the elders and rebel like some happy fairy tale, when you have a position, youâre supposed to do it, and if youâre conflicted, you keep it inside. this is a culture where suicide is often favorable to allowing yourself to have a full on breakdown. there is little to no argument that hanzo absolutely contemplated (and may still be contemplating) killing himself. in some cases, SUICIDE IS SEEN AS MORE RESPONSIBLE.Â
hanzo literally couldnât bear the weight of what he did and abandoned everything trying to redeem himself instead of just killing himself to stop the pain (this is, again, the much more common option). this is combined with the stigma against mental illness (especially those like depression, anxiety, and ptsd) and the pressure to just keep it underneath, and the fact that suicide is also a common response to something that you are deeply ashamed of (sound familiar??). YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE GRAVITY OF HIS CHARACTER UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND THE MOTHERFUCKING CULTURE. hanzo is so much more complex and tragic than the fandom has ever portrayed him to be and iâm so sick of his portrayal.Â
edit: this isnât saying you canât dislike the character, thereâs plenty of reasons why, and hell, you donât even need a reason to dislike certain characters. this is telling people that heâs exponentially more complex than the fandom gives him credit for (and very important to me as a mentally ill japanese person), and making or seeing him as a flat asshole/stereotype is really ignorant at best, fucking hurtful at worst.
bless this post.
I wanna add to this because the OP is so totally on point, and I want to clarify. This idea is not some vague notion that is not spoken of. It is named âgiriâ and as quoted by Wikipedia to be     âa Japanese value roughly corresponding to âdutyâ, âobligationâ, or even âburden of obligationâ in English. It is defined as âto serve oneâs superiors with a self-sacrificing devotionâ by Namiko Abe.â Basically, âgiriâ is somewhere as integral as âlifeâs purposeâ and as everyday as âresponsibilityâ. It is a social value that is bestowed upon you and becomes you. If you choose to live outside of it, you lose your honor, and losing your honor means that you fall out of society. Entirely. You become a no one, bereft of dignity and a place. No family, no friends. Completely cast out. Giriâs opposite counterpart is ninjou, which is human nature. IT is the feeling that drives you to act against your giri, for example to love outside of your social hierarchy, to follow your dreams, to rebel. The push and pull of giri and ninjou is a (exceedingly) common source of drama in Japanese literature. Genji decided to shed his giri and dishonored himself and the family. To restore the honor to the family, it is Hanzoâs giri to kill him. But more importantly, by exercising his giri Hanzo is also restoring Genjiâs honor by not letting him escape his own giri. This is important. Hanzo acts on the elderâs decision not only as to right a social imbalance that has been created by his brother, but also in an act to save him, be it within a really skewed social justification. Obviously, in the end, Hanzoâs ninjou gets the best of him, and he chooses a cast-out life than to live with his act, regardless of how honorable it was. Tl;dr: Unless you truly understand the social situation that the Shimadas come from, you canât truly understand their personalities either.
â i just want to go home. â (IDK how it'll work but legit Rini needs to bug Simon period the end. @el-sacrificio)
âYou miss this,â said with a grin, because Markus was good-natured even when he was slowly suffocating and having to focus on the steady inhalation and exhalation of breath. There was something meditative in illness, in injury; he had to breathe. In. Out. In. Out. Hold for four and then exhaled as long as he can without having a coughing fit. Counting moments, counting breaths.
He missed his family.
He missed Simon.
He missed Zayn.
That was the part that hurt. Not the stab in his chest or the steady feeling of unwellness, it was the longing for the company of others who knew him. Who knew him. Everyone he grew to care about in Talon were people who wanted out, who didnât want this anymore. Who never wanted this, who wanted something for the first time in their goddamned lives and someone offered it to them. He was tired. God, he was so tired. Â He couldnât let this be too much but when his chest hurt so bad and he was looking at his friend, when he was sitting next to some kid with a body count higher than a career soldier who looked like she might start crying at the prospect of her friend dying-
Had started crying.
Something small and quiet and trying very, very hard not to but she was so fucking scared and she didnât want to lose her friend. She had to trust someone she barely knew when the whole damn world had shown Rini that somebody always wanted something.
Except Simon didnât want anything.
---
No, Iâm not going anywhere.
Markus was breathing and he was going to be okay. She knew he had to be okay and even if that man was a stranger, she knew that he seemed to know exactly what he was doing. That white-knuckled grip on her bat hadnât gone away butâŠ
âMarkus gets shot a lot,â an absent statement, but one born of absolute knowing. She knew heâd taken a few bullets, but nothing had ever been that bad, âwhat was it? Modified pulse rifle? Those are pretty nasty.â
Said with entirely too much knowing and entirely too much experience.
â⊠heâll be okay though, right? Youâre a for real doctor?â
Please be a real doctor.
Please?
---
Simon didnât want anything.
Except, of course, for her to get some towels.
âOkay.â
The smaller bottle blonde nodded and skittered off the bed and away to the bathroom, only to find that she had already used all of the towels previously for whatever it was that people needed towels for. That awkward scramble followed by the kid pointing at the door and heading that way. She lingered there for a second, eying the aluminum bat for a second before⊠leaving it. Rini dumped the contents of her backpack before taking it with her and leaving.
She left. The air was still, save for Markusâs breathing. After a moment, he looked at Simon again.
âSorry. Sheâs⊠uh⊠a work in progress. You get it.â
One of the greatest things Markus believed, one of the things that kept him going and kept him fighting, and all sorts of beautiful things was this: people could change. Things could change. One person could make all the difference but adding those small changes together moved mountains. Toppled empires. Brought real, honest-to-fucking-god change.
A pause.
âYou know, itâs kind of funny, you get attached to people. You find people who⊠make sense. And you care about them,â Markus paused, then after a slow, desperate breath, âand then, for me⊠I find a way to let them go. Because every good person I meet now has no business meeting me.â
He gestured at the closed door.
âI donât think Rini will make it long enough for me to tell her goodbye.â
Me: I wish there was more content of my OCs
Me: you have to create the content
Me:

el-sacrificioâ:
A shrug. Quick rise and fall of her shoulders and while her superior looked at the moon she was looking at him. At his profile. Very⊠very still. She was still when she was thinking.Â
âIâm doing my first solo mission tomorrow,â the stillness broke, and the moon seemed pretty interesting all of a sudden, âand⊠Iâm scared.â
A chuckle escaped him, amusement fueling his being. âScared of going alone?â His tone on the teasing side, his attention shifted towards the other. His mask hiding the smirk on his features.
âDo not get me wrong, everyone had their first experience of going alone, so you shouldnât worry about it. If anything goes to shit, me and the others are here to help you out no matter what.â
âSee, itâs totally easy for you to say I shouldnât worry because you? Are a foot taller than me and are probably not accustomed to being tossed around like a lawn dart when things go sideways,â she half-grumbled, arms folded across her chest and she looked more like a normal person who was going on their first big, important job and not like someone who was going to have to probably murder more than one someone tomorrow.Â
â iâm not leaving this room. â (from Markus to Simon, @el-sacrificio)
The room felt cold, but everything felt cold. Markus looked tired, but it was true because he was tired. He was exhausted. He felt that sort of tired in every fiber of his being, but there he had stood, then perched, smelling like blood and copper and smoke and death.
He looked tired, but not the kind of shell-shocked tired. He looked the kind of tired that a man looked when he was waiting for a mission to be over. Markus was waiting for this to all be over, but it wouldn't be over until Zayn woke up and until he could confirm that he was okay. Markus needed to be there to be sure he was okay.
It's been eight hours.
Twelve since they arrived back home from Greece.
Thirteen hours since they'd been ambushed.
"I told Zayn that I would stay until he woke up," he told Simon. He wasn't exasperated or adamant, even though he had been the polite degree of stubborn that he always was when the other staff tried to tell him that he needed to leave. Nothing short of a direct order or a natural disaster would have made him move.
"I gave my word, and I have to make good on that. I told him I would stay with him, and that I would make sure everyone made it back."
The smell of death did not seem out of place on Markus. Strange, because even on his first real, honest-to-god mission, the young man seemed so... comfortable. Uncomfortable in the ways that would keep him alive, but comfortable in the ways that wouldn't make him afraid. He knew what it was like to be afraid, but he also understood that courage was being afraid and continuing to do the right thing because of it.
But he was tired.
"I'm kind of scared I might pass out if I take the chest plate off. Armor kind of keeps you up."
