“ if another snooty northsider gives me a dirty look one more time – dios mio, they’re gonna wish that they never laid eyes on me. ”
Elaina frowned, “Oh-- Oh god, um-- I’m sorry. Who would do that?”
detectivesjung:
Harrison chuckled as they started to sway to the song. “Liar, my living room is no Fontaine, now who’s too nice?” he teased gently. But he enjoyed just moving to the music with her, allowing themselves a moment that was just theirs, not being corrupted by anything going on around them.
Elaina laughed and buried her face in the crook of his neck, shaking her head, “I’m just saying! I’d take this over a ball anyday.” She smiled up at him, her stomach once again going into knots at the closeness and just...pureness of this. Harrison always gave her butterflies, but tonight it was especially bad.
cindygriffin:
‘ to be fair, they’re good bad boys. like, in gangs…sure, but not druggies or violent. ’
“Oh, I know you’d always pick the good ones. I’ve never been worried about that.”
wtfvinnie:
“Nothing to be sorry about, you didn’t do it,” she shrugged, “Yeah, hopefully things will be fine. The damage on me isn’t anything permanent, physically at least. Thank you, I’d hope people were.”
“How, um.. How are you feeling, otherwise?” Elaina tried to dance around the question without seeming nosy--she really did care. No one deserved to stay awake at night being scared for their life.
“So I ended up with a concussion, a fractured ankle, and a fractured wrist,” Lavinia explained, a few steri-strips on her forehead from where she had been hit, “And lots of bruising. But, considering the alternative was, y’know, death, I turned out pretty well, I guess.”
“That’s... That’s horrifying. I’m so sorry.” Elaina said with a frown, but tried to perk up again, “But you’re right! You’re okay, and things will be fine. Right? Right.” She smiled slightly, “I mean, I’m happy you’re still here.”
detectivesjung:
“Their story is kinda boring other than that, honestly,” he chuckled. “But they still love each other, so there’s that,” he said as he used bluetooth on his phone to play the song Elaina requested. “Hey, if I can’t be corny with my girl, who can I be corny with,” he teased as he went back to her, offering his hand so they could dance.
“Still sweet, then.” She smirked at him, but it soon turned into a smile as he offered his hand, her stomach erupting in butterflies at the use of ‘my girl’. Elaina placed her hand in his and moved closer, “I like the corny-- it’s funny, but still sweet.” She grinned as her hand moved to his shoulder and she swayed to the music, “Okay, this definitely beats the Fontaine.”
detectivesjung:
“She was eighteen, she came here for college, it’s where she met my dad,” he shrugged. “Nope, I got my dad’s two left feet, which is completely unfair in my book,” he chuckled as she took his hand. “Let me get the speaker set up, then we’ll have that dance,” he said, pressing a kiss to her knuckles before going to turn the speakers on.
“That’s so sweet-- I love hearing how people met.” She let out a small laugh; she felt like she said she ‘loved’ a lot of things, but it was true. Elaina just like learning about everyone else. “You’re still charming!” She grinned as she watched him set up the song, still obviously pretty giddy over the whole scene. It was like something she’d seen in a movie, but she felt as though she’d gushed enough that night.
detectivesjung:
She did,” he nodded. “When she came to the states, she tried a little of everything just to figure out what she actually liked. I think ballroom dancing is a weird form of teenage rebellion, but that’s my mom for ya,” he chuckled with a shrug. “It’s a fun thing to know even if you don’t use it regularly.”
“When did she come to the states? That’s so interesting. I’ve never known anything outside of Riverdale.” She smiled a bit, reaching for his hand again, “Maybe her skills are genetic.”
detectivesjung:
“Hey, dance lessons wouldn’t be a bad thing,” he mused as they walked into the place. “My mom used to take ballroom dancing classes, she’d probably really like if I did that too.”
Elaina happily followed him inside, setting her shoes by the door and letting her eyes wander around. “She did? I was supposed to them in high school, but enough girls complained that they ended up offering something else.” She laughed, “I think it would’ve come in handy, though, now that I think about it.”
detectivesjung:
“I’m not too nice to you, Elaina,” he said with a little chuckle. “Now come on, I think I owe you a dance,” he said as he stepped out of the car.
“You are, too. Not that I’m complaining.” Elaina smiled at him one more time before getting out of the car, her shoes hanging from her hand. “Should we throw dance lessons in with the cooking classes?”
detectivesjung:
“I really don’t think that would go too well for either of us,” he laughed as they pulled up to his place. “I’m glad. It’s cute to see you all excited.”
“You can’t say that! We don’t know for sure.” She laughed before unbuckling her seatbelt once they got to his house. Her cheeks darkened at his compliment and she shook her head, “I just like you is all. You’re too nice to me.”
detectivesjung:
“Shocking as it may seem,” he teased. “That’s a good song,” he smiled as they drove towards his apartment. “I can put it on my speakers when we get there.”
“I think we should attempt that instead.” She smirked at him before busting into another grin--she was just happy to be alone with him again, ball or not. “Really? I-- Okay. I’m excited.” She smiled down at her hands in her lap, trying to hide her giddiness.
detectivesjung:
Harrison chuckled at the suggestion that he should pick the song. “The songs I listen to are either like, hip-hop, rap, or not in English. Not the best for slow dancing,” he teased gently. “What’s the song you think about? I wanna know.”
Elaina laughed, “Are you trying to tell me you’ve never slow danced to a rap song?” She asked this with fake bewilderment and couldn’t help but start giggling again. “It kind of changes-- But lately it’s been Walking the Wire by Imagine Dragons. It came on my Spotify and-- It’s cute, I like it.” She grinned.
detectivesjung:
Harrison smiled gently into the kiss, immediately feeling calmer when he was reminded that the two of them could still afford small moments of normalcy. “It is,” he promised with a grin before starting the drive to his apartment. “And now we can take the night back, have a good time.”
Elaina hoped the kiss wasn’t seen as an interruption, but she wanted him to have fun for the rest of the night--she knew he had been working so much with the way things had been in Riverdale lately. She wanted him to relax, just for one night. “That’s fine by me.” She smiled to herself as she looked in the sideview mirror, happy to see the Fontaine getting farther away from them. The farther away they were, the easier it was to forget what happened. “Alright, Detective, I’m putting you in charge of picking a song to dance to.” She laughed, “I always pick the same song in my head for slow dances-- You know, I’ll hear it and be like ‘this would be really cute!’” She blushed a bit at the confession, but the smile was still on her face.
detectivesjung:
“You’re right,” he nodded as they got to his car. He opened the passenger door for her before getting into the front seat. “I can’t wait for things to go back to normal. Part of me can’t even remember what that feels like.”
Elaina smiled at him and curtsied with her long dress before laughing and getting into the car. Once he was also inside, she nodded, “That’ll just make it feel even better.” She leaned over and placed a quick, but deep kiss on his lips. She pulled away with a slight smile and a blush on her cheeks, “I hope this is still normal.” She laughed quietly.
detectivesjung:
Harrison couldn’t help but feel slightly endeared when she took off the heels and got shorter. “Ready,” he nodded as he took her hand and started to lead them towards his car. “At least all this seems to be coming to an end soon. I mean, we’re close now, we have to be.”
Elaina gave his hand a reassuring squeeze and nodded, “They were so close to catching him tonight. That means that he’s starting to get a little messy, right? It’ll be over soon.” She smiled slightly, really wanting to believe her own words--but she was still scared. Still, she had faith in Harrison and the rest of the police department. “There are more people like the one who stopped him tonight, too. People willing to help--I know it.”
xbrygrosvenor:
She nodded, a small smile on her face. “Can you let me know his name? I can see if I’ve heard anything. You’re not being pushy, don’t worry.”
“Harrison Jung--” She took a breath, “Sorry, um-- He’s another detective, I thought he’d be helping.”
