Elena turned her gaze back to Elaina after deciding on a Boston cream donut, in all its sugary glory, and a cup of coffee. She liked it black, a cliche to match perfectly with her love of cigarettes.
“I imagine that’s the only aspect I’d beat you in, then. Good for me.”
She smiled a little, implying not only the notion between them as individuals, but their respective kinds, too.
“Oh, I just sort of… think of where I want to go? I don’t use it much, actually —it’s about the journey, not just the destination? However that saying goes.”
Elaina laughed softly at the comment, though she didn’t really think it was true. She was so young and so new to the world - there was so much she didn’t yet know. She never underestimated anyone. The server came and took own their orders rather quickly.
Elena’s comment on wandering wasn’t all that surprising . Ghosts tended to wander and most were lost but, as a wise writer had quoted: ‘Not all those who wander are lost.’ And she could respect (and even relate to) a desire to simply roam and experience. “So there’s no destinations in mind just yet?” She asked gently.
