If you ever see a child under the age of 18 sexualize themselves, please don’t be annoyed by their behavior. And whatever you do, please don’t blame them. They likely don’t feel adequate enough to satisfy others in a different way. I know this because I was that child. I never felt like I was good enough, so I resorted to hypersexualizing myself. Adults gave me attention, which I so craved throughout my life. I didn’t care if it was a type of attention I shouldn’t have been receiving. All that mattered to me was that I felt appreciated for once. I went so far as to take the risk to have sex with a fully grown adult, just because he made me feel like I was good enough. It was an endless, miserable cycle of not knowing my worth. It’s a cycle that doesn’t end until you find your worth. So if you ever see a child hypersexualizing themselves, please don’t blame them. Show them their worth. Show them how they’re worth so much more than their body. Show them that there are people in the world that appreciate them for who they truly are. It’s not their fault, it’s the adults who take advantage of kids in unfortunate situations.
