Craig and wendy/crendy cousins headcanons because 🥺

1. Those times when Wendy breaks up with Stan I think she’d laugh about his ‘goth phase’ with Craig, since he’s rivals with Stan and his gang in general, so Craig is like fresh air to Wendy.

2. (Platonic Twendy / Tweek and Wendy too lol) Tweek sees Wendy as ‘Craig’s older sister’, so thats one of the reasons why he feels attached to her.

3. I hc Craig and Wendy as cousins, and I hc Craig’s mom and Wendy’s mom as THOSE attached besties, So, When they were babies, Their moms always made them together and match like outfits etc as babies/toddlers LMAOO. Like I can see Wendy wearing a fuckass pink chullo hat to match Craigs as a baby/before toddler 😭

4. Wendy would make fun of Craig’s gayness but when someone else does it seriously she’d be all defensive in a ‘’Only I can insult my cousin.’’ way 😭🫱

5. I see them as those type of cousins who have sibling-like beef, as Craig before Tweek used to make misogynistic ass jokes and Wendy is a determined feminist. Just imagine how their average interaction would be 😭

6. During Craig was in denial and rejected Tweek after he wanted to be back together with Craig during and after the backyard scene in Tweek x Craig, Wendy was also one of the people aside from Craig’s parents and Tweek himself who helped him overcome his denial due to her outspokenness. (I can imagine Wendy approaching Craig the next day firmly telling him to be truthful go Tweek and when Craig is finally truthful Wendy just softens and smiles🥹)

7. When they were younger, They were actually more affectionate compared to their later usual beef. I can imagine Tweek and Bebe (I headcanon them both as cousins too) seeing old photos of Craig and Wendy when they were younger (like example, a photo of baby Wendy kissing baby Craig’s cheek while he blushes from embarrassment) and they both just cringe SO HARD while Tweek and Bebe just laugh at it LMAO

8. Wendy and Tricia actually get along well and team up against Craig whenever they beef. Tricia also looks up to her / admires her 🥺✌️ Laura/Craig’s mom and Wendy also get along well

9. Shinonome siblings (Akito and Ena) energy honestly.. 😭 and a bit of Ivansua cuz they look alike.

10. More of a fact but uhh.. they both canonically have crooked teeth and are both stubborn and assertive in their own ways. + I headcanon them to look similar in a way, in a way that when people glance at one of them it reminds them of the other.

11. In the breast cancer ep where Wendy fights Cartman, Craig only hyped up Cartman by belittling Wendy just so he could show up to the fight to see him getting beaten up by Wendy because he knows his cousin could defeat him..😅

Unlike others, I don’t intend to catch up on all the literature surrounding DID for this discussion. This is all for fun and specifically:

I am not formally trained in Psychology

As great as the rep is, it does have some fictionalized points and I want to engage with those as their own thing rather than ringing some “not real alarm”

I’m a stranger on Social Media who’s relying on stock knowledge to write here lol

Feel free to do real research and witness how interesting proper DID rep can be (while still humanizing them please)

Ave Mujica’s Mutsumi Wakaba is so precious to me and part of why I love her so much is because the portrayal of her mental health issues, specifically Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), is so good . But to understand her DID, it would be good to discuss DID on its own first using a little metaphor.

If a whole identity is a mirror, DID is a shattered mirror. It is a natural reaction to some outside force (trauma) breaking the mirror into pieces. Each of those pieces 1) provides a reflection, and 2) finds their origin in the whole. From there the metaphor admittedly breaks down as it’s not like mirror shards or reflections can interact with one another and there’s the implication that the subject can peer into whichever piece they want when the process of fronting is quite complex. But there is truth to the idea that reuniting the Dissociated Identity is like fixing the mirror so that it shows a whole image once more. DID is MUCH more complex than that especially since it can appear in children and its diagnostic criteria wouldn’t match pop culture’s ideas exactly. Case in point:

Mutsumi’s case is special. From what we’ve seen of her history in Ave Mujica (but this is from her mother’s POV so grain of salt), she didn’t start out as “host! Mutsumi.” Instead, it was as if she were shattered glass from the start, changing faces to match what was needed from the daughter of celebrities and largely mimicking social cues rather than being “herself” in any meaningful capacity. When she gained her guitar and her love for it, it was as though the mirror finally had a frame. Slowly she collected and combined her scattered alters and memories into her self to form Mutsumi the person. However, one alter remained prominent and was fully realized in response to Mutsumi’s experiences with Ave Mujica 1.

Mortis is such a good fictional alter (the proper terms for the non-original personalities that arise in DID). She’s an actual personality within Mutsumi who engages with the world around her in her own ways despite sharing a body and senses with Mutsumi.

Part of why people thought there were entirely separate personalities in DID patients was likely because alters acted like entire persons with their own genders, personalities, ages, opinions, and such. Mortis having different opinions on Sakiko, different skills (or lack thereof), and a different general demeanor is in a sense an introduction to DID alters. She’s distinct from Mutsumi but makes it clear she cares about Mutsumi and wants what’s best for her even if they disagree on what that is. Of course, she has her own angst when the possibility of her being integrated back into the main Identity comes up as Mutsumi gets better.

She manifests several different roles for Mutsumi: protector, child-form, but also attack dog and people pleaser. These roles and ideas are ones that Mutsumi is likely not willing to unite with at the moment. People pleasing, being “fake,” even being extroverted, are character traits that don’t mesh well with her main self. By extension, things that her alters (who’d eventually converge as Mortis) don’t need such as guitar skills would not manifest them. It’s hard to say if the phrase “each of these alters has a different role” is a good idea to share as Mortis does fit this stereotype but whether that applies to all DID cases is beyond me.

The short of it is: Mortis fully fronted in response to Ave Mujica and the press pestering Mutsumi to act like she did as a child. Mutsumi is just stressed so while she did surrender control to Mortis, it is evident that Mortis acted on her own as the show progressed. Fighting Sakiko, doing more personable things in interviews, not knowing guitar, even the way she speaks of herself as Mutsumi’s protector speaks to her “role” within the system.

The only curious point is the part where Mortis dives into their subconscious to retrieve Mutsumi. Beautiful scene that showcases the love they have for one another but also, I couldn’t be the only one who assumed that was an integration, right? That imagery made me worried Mortis was united with the Main Mutsumi but it kinda looks like those fears are unfounded with the final Ave Mujica performace?

Go watch Ave Mujica and see for yourself how Mutsumi and Mortis progress through the season. Mortis stepping in when Mutsumi couldn’t handle the stress, but also Mortis forcibly fronting at times because she really believes disobeying Mutsumi is better for them. There are so many strands to these twos relationship you could observe and that’s why I ship them they are so interesting.

If you take away anything from this: Watch It’s MyGO!!!!! and then Ave Mujica The Die is Cast. DO IT.

Engaging with media that treats these topics with respect is so much more fun than subjecting ourselves to “ooohhhh split personality ssccaaarryyy.” Seeing Mortis and Mutsumi engage with each other and seeing the narrative treat Mortis as her own character with her own goals and conflicts is amazing to witness and I hope to see more of them in the future.
