Finished reading To Clutch A Razor last night and it’s lingering in my brain like a really good dream. I loved the first one - When Among Crows - and the sequel is equally fantastic. I loved the way they describing eating fear. Particularly the powder sugar sweetness of anxiety 🫣 And the way love and care finds its way into these characters lives in the cracks between the tragedy. So beautiful.
I super recommend these books about polish monsters who live in Chicago. I love them. And the audiobooks are fantastic.
I’m revisiting episodes 5-8 of The Harbingers today b/c we’re gonna record something tomorrow where we chat about it. And I just got to a part where I noticed something I’d never noticed before. And I let out an evil chuckle like a super villain just thinking about it… love it when a plan comes together…
What was your favorite question from the live event you want to share with the class?
A friend of the show at the New York show asked Eleanor - our designated romance fan and shipper on deck on the production team - if she was as sexually frustrated as they were after the first season.
That set the tone pretty well. 😅
My answer: YES.
And then I think I admitted that I am a little embarrassed by how frequently I’ve sat in meetings and compared something in The Harbingers to something in Heated Rivalry. It’s like… a lot of times.
Had just so much fun at The Harbingers live listening event in NY last night. If you were there - thank you. It was such a joy to share laughs, gasps, and sniffles with all of you. It’s rare to get to hear people react to our work in real time. And it’s really magical. Thank you.

So we are trying to put together two special, live, in-person listening events for our finale ahead of its full release. That's right - it won't just be a chance to hear the finale with other fans, but also to be the first people to hear it! There'll be laughs, tears, hugs, some learning, some fun twists and turns, maybe a talkback with the show's producers and its cast - we'll see! It'll basically be like one of the livestreams that we've been doing for most of this season, but in real life!

In the beginning there was the great, endless grey of all that would be.
The orderless reality storm - a place where all thoughts, ideas, and realities bled into each other. Every creature was man and beast. Every moment was both yesterday and tomorrow. Every idea was both true and false. And every inch of the world was both alive and dead at once.
To the great chaotic chasm of all that was came Varen and Nyria. He who is called the Singular and She who is known as the Many-Faced. He came from far in the East, the realm of light. She came from the West, from the labyrinthine depths. Though they knew not of each others’ existence, they were drawn together by the threads of destiny. In the eye of the great storm that was the world, mind met mind and hand met hand and breath met breath.
And in that moment, the journey of eternity took its first, shuddering step.
The Singular and the Many-Faced were equal and opposite, matched in skill but not in nature. They moved on each other and around each other, finding in the dance of their reflection the notes of the secret music that dictated the movements of the storm that was the world.
And it was through and around each other that they found the way to change this song, and in changing the tune discovered how to tame the tempest. THE VOYAGE OF THE ARROW HAWK

In the history of Harbingers archeology, few figures command so much respect, attention, fascination, and… well, the honest term might “unsettled dread” as British Explorer Desmond Childers. Had Childers only had his first interaction with Harbinger history and culture, in which he discovered the ancient column that to this day bears his name, providing academics and linguists a first step on the journey to understanding the Language of the Sun and the Language of the Stars, he would be remembered as a towering figure in the empire’s journey towards rediscovery and reclamation. But he didn’t have just one interaction with them; across five voyages into the Southern reaches of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, Childers was responsible for the discovery of a dozen tombs, vaults, ruins, and landmarks of what we now know as the Harbinger Empire. In so many ways, he rang the bell that called Harbinger archeology as a discipline into session - he lit the first spark of imagination that led explorers’ societies and anthropologists all over the world to start piecing together the great puzzle of the world’s lost ancient kingdom.
Of course, ever a man of ambition, Desmond Childers would be satisfied with nothing less than the final word on the matter of his own narrative. And so when, in early 1782, he embarked upon his fifth and most ambitious journey yet, taking a crew of ninety-two able men aboard the HMS Arrow Hawk, he thought he was setting off on his greatest adventure of discovery to date. Instead, Childers and his ship ran into disaster, sailing not into a new successful expedition but into the world of the strange and the bizarre. Soon after his return to England, Childers was set to once again embark upon a new voyage, only to disappear without a trace. He seemed to step out of the streets of Portsmouth and right onto the pages of history itself, becoming not just a part of Harbinger history, but perhaps a part of Harbinger myth itself.
He was thirty-three at the time.
