Thinking about Furina coming out to Clorinde. It's only natural that the first person to reach out to Furina after the Prophecy woould be the first person Furina comes out to.

Furina being nervous, not because he's afraid of Clorinde's reaction, but rather, because he's not 100% sure exactly how he identifies. Clorinde patiently listening to Furina's thoughts, and reassuring him that no matter what, she'll be there for him.

Something I've noticed through Butchfemme Furinde is that there's a very distinct difference between "I view Clorinde as Femme." and "Clorinde is a woman, and therefore must be Feminine."

Learning how to distinguish between the two has been honestly fascinating.

Escofuri is kinda hilarious in the context of Transmasc Furina.

She locked herself away to perfect her skills, and completely missed Furina's transition.

I see Furina and Clorinde's Relationship with Gender as parallels. The erasure of Furina's Masculinity in part through Furina's perceived "weakness"; and the erasure of Clorinde's Femininity due to her strength.

How old do people think Furina would be in a Modern AU? My gut says early-mid 20s, like 24-ish. Without the whole immortality situation, Furina gives very young adult vibes to me. I'm curious if anyone else has any thoughts.

I like Arlefuri (as long as you respect both characters in doing so), I don't LOVE it, but I like it in such a specific context that no one else makes, and I don't like it enough to make it myself. But uh:

The problem I most often see when people try to discuss Furina's relationship with Gender is that they try to ignore the existence of Focalors, or the ways in which Focalors affects Furina's Gender.

When comparing the two side by side, the dynamic becomes incredibly obvious: Focalors' Femininity exists in stark contrast to Furina's Masculinity, and serves to highlight the ways in which Furina feels trapped by the role of the Hydro Archon. It's almost impossible to definitively say what aspects of Femininity are things Furina truly identifies with, Vs. Things that are left over from Furina's time as the Hydro Archon.

I've always seen Furina's relationship with Gender as something that is still evolving, and Furina growing more comfortable with their Masculinity. I sincerely doubt we'll ever get a straightforward answer on the matter, which means it's largely a matter of opinion, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

I'm sort of fascinated by the way Clorinde's Bisexuality is treated by the Fandom. Unlike most other Bi-coded characters in Genshin, Clorinde being Bisexual has nothing to with the Traveler whatsoever.

In my experience, this seems to bring out a fair number of people who believe that BECAUSE Clorinde is Bisexual, she therefore MUST be shipped with a man. Which. Is so blatantly biphobic that I can't even begin describe how much I hate it.

I sometimes forget how many of my Furinde thoughts are fairly unique. Like, what do you mean you don't explicitly have Clorinde and Navia as exes? You haven't thought of Clorinde being Furina's first visitor being a result of Clorinde learning from how she left Navia, and her being determined not to make the same mistake twice? You're not even doing Butchfemme Furinde?

It's weird seeing people who ship Furinde without such these aspects that have become so fundamental to their dynamic in my mind.

Off the cuff thoughts re: Clorinde's Sexuality:

As someone who's sole Furina ship is Furinde, and being ride or die for Transmasc Furina, I consider Clorinde's Bisexuality to be a crucial aspect of their relationship.

While I do HC Furina as a Transmasc Butch Lesbian, I think it's vital for Furina to have the space to explore his gender without fear, and Furina's having feelings for Clorinde for a few years is a core part of how I envision their dynamic.

"None Binary with Left Boy" is exactly how I'd describe Furina's Gender in one sentence.

Like, the Ouji fashion, general Princely Aura, using Boku in the JP dub; all of it comes together to create a very youthful, boyish type of Masculinity.

It's not something people see very often, which is probably why so many don't pick up on it. But it's such an important aspect of Furina's Character.

For example, I've hardly ever seen people talk about Arlecchino and Furina's drastically different expressions of Masculinity.
