A family friend rescued this baby today. Two weeks old, has never been able to nurse from his mother, and was scheduled to be sent to slaughter tomorrow. In her words, “He may be just one. But he is one less.” I want to be her when I grow up.

You told me, “if you want to see something beautiful, just look”. I never close my eyes now. I see my own reflection in every flower, and when I look at the sky, I can see the invisible connections between myself and everything of existence. The Moon is my father and the Sun is my mother; and although they are separate, the past beauty they created forever remains. I can’t help but see the entire universe in every person I meet. I used to think of the world as a letter addressed to very few people, but then you spoke, and then I knew; I am the universe. My god, I am so beautiful. And now, when I look at you, I see stars in your eyes, and with every smile, I see explosions of colors throughout your entire body. My god, you are so beautiful. We are all so beautiful. I’m never going to close my eyes.
