What did a Union takeover look like, from the inside? Ray and perused a few records in the European wartime, just to read up on what he could expect. After all, the Union paid valid money just like the Polity, and for an information broker, pragmatism beat patriotism every time. But sure, he’d thought a few times about what a cold Union advance could do to the country.
Well…now he knew. And it was more than a little unnerving. Even for a rigger who knew his drones better than most people know their best friends, seeing that level of control over so many machines and nanobots was distressing.
“London?” The place with the big clocktower, the palace. He’d seen those somewhere. “So what brought you here?” And what was taking them so long to process Ray? Was he under arrest, or not?
something beeps on the datapad weller is using, and a few strings of information begin to flit past. his expression seems to light up as he reads, his eyes darting back and forth as he goes. p e r f e c t .
“what brought--?” he raises a brow in confusion, looking up and realizing he was being spoken to. “oh! yes, london!” he laughs and sets the datapad to the side. “well, when the union moved in, we had to relocate and i ended up in the new york division of the polity for my research. lucky for me, all my physical research was west, so the vanguard kept it safe and sound.”
he sits down then, grinning at ray. “which brings me to my next point.” he muses. “i read your files, er--you read a bit about the gen:LOCK program i assume, while you were looking things over? yes?”
