“Okay but I have an entire layout and briefing to do for tomorrow because my clients and bosses set unreasonable deadlines,” Eliana began, sifting through some papers, “How important is whatever you were about to say to me?”
lilyarmstrongs:
“So they wouldn’t notice if I did a few stand out patterns? I was thinking of something like this,” Lily spoke as she quickly flipped through her sample book before pointing to a pokadot pattern, “Maybe with some ruffled sleeves?”
“I’m in,” Eliana said, grinning, “As long as I don’t flash anybody, I don’t see what reason anyone would have to be against it. I mean, who wouldn’t want their architect to be fashionable.”
alexandriarcsier:
As the words came from Alexandria’s mouth she had regretted it; only because she had never admitted something like that to anyone. She was used to closing herself off to others, it felt safer that way. And yet, Alexandria found herself opening up more to Eliana and feeling more comfortable with her. It was slowly becoming the new normal. “I wasn’t sure if I wanted it either,” Alexandria admitted, “But… it’s been nice. I don’t think it was your fault. You didn’t know what had happened or where we had gone.” But, she couldn’t help herself. “You didn’t know, right?”
“I didn’t,” Eliana said, “I mean, I assumed you were where we left you and then I found out you weren’t and I tried looking further into but dad found out and he was... well, he was dad,” She paused, “I was too scared to properly try again until I found you this time,” She paused, “Sometimes I do wish I’d stayed with you and mom. Do you ever wonder how different things would have been if I had?”
alexandriarcsier:
“I’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard to persuade them. You’re the best of them all, why wouldn’t they want you to represent them? I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to get new clientele. I’ll be your first business reference. I’m sure one from a cop to a lawyer would be helpful,” She spoke. She was glad that Eliana had the same feeling about their relationship as Alex did- she never let herself be vulnerable to others and was thankful it wasn’t something that would bite her later. After a moment, Alexandria spoke again. “I’m glad you’re here. I don’t think I’ve said it, but… it’s nice having you back.”
Eliana smiled brightly, “I’m glad to have you back too,” She said, “To be honest, I was worried you wouldn’t want me back in your life,” She admitted, “I mean I wouldn’t blame you with me being gone for so long and everything that happened.”
lilyarmstrongs:
“So lots of flexibility, then?” Lily asked, “That’s good! I love when companies are relax about their dress codes. I had someone come in the other week, and their dress code was more like a uniform- which is fine, but it makes it a bit harder for me to make something they like and follows all the rules.” Lily spoke, her tone naturally quick. It was hard for her to stop talking once she started, “Are there any patterns you like? I think one with a deep maroon would be cute for you!”
“I mean if we’re being honest, my company is based in New York and I’m here. So as long as I look impressive and professional, they’re not gonna care what I wear,” Her eyes brightened, “Maroon. I love it. Absolutely compliments my skin tone. I knew I came to the right person.”
jayruzek:
Jay let out a groan. “Fuck me,” he complained.
“Alright, no need for foul language,” Eliana said, “Do you need help looking? I’m free for a bit.”
lilyarmstrongs:
If Lily had tried to hide the large smile over her face, it wouldn’t have worked so well. It was one of her favourite things to be able to design things from scratch. “Amazing! Do you have a dress code I need to follow?”
“The dress code is smart and sensible. Nothing too revealing but I still want to look good of course.”
alexandriarcsier:
A few weeks ago Alexandria wouldn’t have thought that she would be willingly offering to someone to stay there longer, and yet the idea of her sister staying longer filled her with joy. It wasn’t like Alex to stay in one spot for too long and still, she was thinking about it. “Could you take clients? Or is that just… something in the movies?”
“Legally I can’t bring them with me but if it was within their contract or they have really good lawyers then they can, they can chose to come with me. But I can also find new ones. I pride myself on my good relationship-building skills... at least in the business world,” Eliana said, “And our new relationship is important to me too so I would really like to stay here.”
rileyxwalkcr:
“Well it’s not like I’m hiding Monopoly in my jacket, I’m sort of limited on what to suggest.” Riley commented, looking to the other when she mentioned names. “Riley- my name is Riley. And yours?”
“Hey I don’t know you, you could,” Eliana said with a laugh and a shrug, “I’m Eliana. People call me Eli though so feel free to.”
alexandriarcsier:
Despite herself, Alexandria started to smile at her sisters words, “It’s still good,” She replied, pride rising through her. “You get to make a difference in the world every day by doing that.” It didn’t really surprise Alex that they were so different- Alex wouldn’t do work for nothing. Sometimes Alex thought the world owed her a bit more. “How long would that take you? Maybe…” She paused, “You could open something here?”
Eliana grinned, “I could do that,” She said happily, “Technically I could do it whenever I wanted. I have the money. It’s more about building a reputation and client relationships first,” She paused, “I think I’d really like to open something here.”
lilyarmstrongs:
“Do you know what kind of style you’re after?” Lilian asked, her head tilting slightly as she looked at the other. “How about we start with colours? Work our way up from there- some of those designs don’t work with all colours.” She then said, her nose scrunching as she talked.
“I just need new clothes for work. I trust you completely with the rest of it.”
jayruzek:
“I work at HQ, and it’s never happened to me before.”
“That definitely sounds like something you should be worried about then.”
jayruzek:
“Should it be suspicious that I’m missing a page in this file that I got?”
“Generally that sounds like something that’s bad but I don’t know where you work or what you do or how common that is.”
sloanescarlisle:
“I like that second suggestion.”
“Off you go then.”
alexandriarcsier:
Alexandria regretted the strong stance she had taken against Eliana doing pro-bono. She didn’t want Eliana to be making no money with all the hard work she had been doing. “It’s good that the company lets you do things like that. Are most of your cases like that?”
“It had nothing to do with letting. They wanted me and I wouldn’t join the company unless it was in my contract. I wanted to do it and it looks good for them,” Eliana explained and then shook her head, “Not most unfortunately, but a number of them. I’d like to open my own firm one day and do more work like that but until then, here’s where I’m at.”

“I’d suggest a game of eye spy or something while we wait, but something tells me that would get real boring, real fast.” Riley commented, breaking the silence that had been filtering through the broken down elevator for the past ten minutes.
Eliana stifled a laugh, “Of all the games, that’s the one you choose?” She asked, “How about we start with names? You haven’t told me yours yet.”
rubyxtalbot:
“Well I know all about that part, never let her out of my sight. You’re right, I hope that I can make something quickly before getting something more permanent made.”
“Are you saying you don’t have somewhere to store it?”
