“Yesterday night, and not really,” Sloane replied. “I’ll be fine. I always am.”

Nora wasn’t sure how to answer her question. Her parents did science experiments using her to create her dinosaur, but that was something she’d never told anyone, and she wasn’t going to come clean about having a telepathically linked bio engineered dinosaur in her basement to a random stranger. “Er, I guess, kind of,” she muttered out, not willing to elaborate. “I more meant that they were doing experiments while I was in the room and benefitting from the heat.”
“I’m not sure that’s a fairly safe environment for a child, but who am I to say? My mother was pretty awful.”

“My cooking?” Aiden asked. Talking shit about Darcy, he understood but him? He pulled out the chair in the break room and gestured, “Sit,” Both of them had experience with injuries like this. It was nothing new but that didn’t mean he couldn’t take a look and try and help with the healing. He was trained in first aid after all.
“Aiden, you don’t have to parent me,” she commented, but took a seat anyway. “I can take care of myself. Well, sort of.”

I like my time alone but everybody needs somebody to rely on and who’s got their back,” That’s what he had his family for, “Did you not get along before you realise he was your brother?” He asked curiously, “Like is he an asshole or something?” He couldn’t think of any other reason to ice out family when she had it.
“No, he’s not, and that kind of makes it worse. He nice, and kind, always has been. He’s been more of a parent since we were kids that our Mom ever was. That’s the problem, I don’t deserve him. I just poison our family.”

“There’s two of you?” he blinked. “Well that seems like it’ll be confusing,” Dante admitted. “What’s your name? And are you sure you’re okay?”
“I mean, I guess that’s what being identical twins means,” Sloane replied. “And it’s Sloane. I’ll be fine, I guess you don’t know much about Darcy and I, huh?”

“Why not?” Nora asked. “They can do their experiments which produce heat, simultaneously warming me up and allowing them to do their research. It works pretty well, and isn’t as bad for the environment as chopping down trees might be.”
“So you’re telling me, your parents used to do science experiments on you?”

“I guess I can’t blame you for doing that,” he shrugged slightly. “But it was still stupid to go at them alone,” AJ added. “Have you gotten some ice for that? You don’t want the bruising to get worse.”
Sloane shrugged. “You’re talking to someone who had swallowed paint thinner before, I think I can take a bruise.” Sloane had a tendency to do that, not take care of herself because she’s been through worse, it was a nasty habit to have.

“I… I don’t know,” Dallas admitted. “We need to figure out some way to distract it or get it to move elsewhere. Any ideas?”
“A stick?” Sloane replied with a shrug. “I don’t know, I’ve never even had a pet before.”

“Wow, you’re going to be shocked when I tell you I haven’t seen Spongebob.”

“Hmm,” Aspen hummed, as if she was taking a moment to think about it. “Not this time but… I’d watch out,” she joked, “I promise I won’t put peanut butter on yours but you are absolutely missing out. I could market this.”
“Yeah, I pick not eating it so I can survive over missing out,” she answered.

“Unless you’ve got super strength, I don’t think you’d be able to chop a tree down by yourself,” Nora chimed, shrugging. It was just fact, right? “Right, okay– that makes more sense. As you can probably tell I’ve not ever had to do this before. With scientists for parents, you find more creative ways to warm up.”
“I don’t really think that’s a good thing,” Sloane replied.

Drake tilted his head to the side giving the eye another once over. “Sucks that you got hit.” Drake took her hand, “C’mon let’s get that iced before you can’t see.” He reasoned. “Did you finish the fight?”
Sloane followed Drake. “I guess you could say that. They backed down after I hit them back.”

“Darcy– are you kidding? What do you mean it’s nothing?” Dante looked worriedly to whom he thought was one of his new friends. “How did this happen to you?”
Sloane was taken aback for a second when the guy said her sister’s name. “You’ve got the wrong twin, buddy.”

“You and I both know that’s bullshit,” AJ replied with a light shake of his head. “Talk to me– what happened?”
“Someone was talking shit about my siblings, and while I know I’m being such a bitch to Aiden, no one else is allowed to be mean to them. So I might have taken the first punch.”

“Sloane, what the hell happened?” Aiden asked, looking at her both panicked and concerned, “Who did this to you?”
“I’m fine,” Sloane insisted. “Some girl was being a bitch about your cooking and then was talking shit about Darcy, so I took a punch, and well she didn’t have a bad right hook.”

Drake was still taken back by the shiner. It looked gnarly. It pained him to even look at it. He had to constantly touch his own eye just to make sure he wasn’t sporting the same thing. “Bullshit,” He muttered. “How’d you manage to get that?”
“Well I heard someone talking shit about my sister, and well, girl had a good right hook,” she replied. “Granted I did swing first.”
