Nora wasn’t sure how to answer her question. Her parents did science experiments using her to create her dinosaur, but that was something she’d never told anyone, and she wasn’t going to come clean about having a telepathically linked bio engineered dinosaur in her basement to a random stranger. “Er, I guess, kind of,” she muttered out, not willing to elaborate. “I more meant that they were doing experiments while I was in the room and benefitting from the heat.”

“I’m not sure that’s a fairly safe environment for a child, but who am I to say? My mother was pretty awful.”

“My cooking?” Aiden asked. Talking shit about Darcy, he understood but him? He pulled out the chair in the break room and gestured, “Sit,” Both of them had experience with injuries like this. It was nothing new but that didn’t mean he couldn’t take a look and try and help with the healing. He was trained in first aid after all.

“Aiden, you don’t have to parent me,” she commented, but took a seat anyway. “I can take care of myself. Well, sort of.”

“No, he’s not, and that kind of makes it worse. He nice, and kind, always has been. He’s been more of a parent since we were kids that our Mom ever was. That’s the problem, I don’t deserve him. I just poison our family.”

“I mean, I guess that’s what being identical twins means,” Sloane replied. “And it’s Sloane. I’ll be fine, I guess you don’t know much about Darcy and I, huh?”

“Why not?” Nora asked. “They can do their experiments which produce heat, simultaneously warming me up and allowing them to do their research. It works pretty well, and isn’t as bad for the environment as chopping down trees might be.”

“So you’re telling me, your parents used to do science experiments on you?”

“I guess I can’t blame you for doing that,” he shrugged slightly. “But it was still stupid to go at them alone,” AJ added. “Have you gotten some ice for that? You don’t want the bruising to get worse.”

Sloane shrugged. “You’re talking to someone who had swallowed paint thinner before, I think I can take a bruise.” Sloane had a tendency to do that, not take care of herself because she’s been through worse, it was a nasty habit to have.

As you can probably tell I’ve not ever had to do this before. With scientists for parents, you find more creative ways to warm up.” 

“I don’t really think that’s a good thing,” Sloane replied.

Sloane was taken aback for a second when the guy said her sister’s name. “You’ve got the wrong twin, buddy.”

Drake was still taken back by the shiner. It looked gnarly. It pained him to even look at it. He had to constantly touch his own eye just to make sure he wasn’t sporting the same thing. “Bullshit,” He muttered. “How’d you manage to get that?” 

“Well I heard someone talking shit about my sister, and well, girl had a good right hook,” she replied. “Granted I did swing first.”
