another missing persons’ case goes by and it all feels a little too commonplace in kirsty’s world. it almost felt like a dramatic movie. like, for god’s sake, if you’re going to die, have the decency to do it privately. but at least since it’s so public, kirsty has the opportunity to get a reaction out of it, making people squirm and all. that recognition is the least she could ask for now that she’s back. “ what do you think happens to people after they die ?? is the thud the last thing they feel ?? it has to be an interesting feeling, right ?? do you think they know that they get their own redemption arc ?? “ she asks to whoever would hear at the mists. a smirk grows on her face as she awaits another person’s response.
the woman’s question was one that bothered ellie nearly every day. she thought about death often. or, more accurately, she thought about what came after. she desperately wanted to believe that there was a heaven, or at least some sort of happy ending for the people that deserved it... but she wasn’t quite certain she could convince herself that it actually existed. how could it exist, when so much shit existed in the world? when so few people actually deserved to end up in a place like that to begin with? but if there wasn’t a heaven, that would mean that katie ended up... nowhere. just in the ground. six feet under, rotting, decomposing. and eloise couldn’t accept that. “i don’t. -- think about it, that is,” she replied, keeping her words short. “why depress yourself on purpose like that?”
