I love the way my front cover turned out. I think the image I took of Chloe is really strong and I love everything about it from the colours to the pose she's posing.

Dystopia Magazine- Pages 2&3

For pages 2&3 I went for an image which was taken with projection for page 2. I projected the word 'undesirable' onto Chloe and got her to pose tilting her face slightly. And then on page 3 I repeated the definition of dystopia twice and tilted one of them.

I really love how these two pages turned out. I think as a start to my magazine it's a really strong spread to open up on.

Dystopia Magazine- Pages 4&5

I decided to go for another double page spread for pages 4&5. I love the green with the purple I think it really creates a dystopian, gloomy vibe.

I think this image is a really strong image and I really love how it turned out.

Dystopia Magazine- Pages 6&7

With pages 6&7 I went for a trippy red effect with page 6. I used the lasso tool to create the cut and paste effect. And then with page 7 I took the image in the studio with coloured jells and edited it with touch up tools in photoshop.

I really like how these images turned out. My favourite is definitely page 7 as I love the way the blue contrasts the red.

Dystopia Magazine- Pages 8&9

For pages 8&9 I went for the theme of red. I edited two images which I took of my model chloe and with page 8 I added the definiton of dystopia over the top. Then with page 9 I duplicated the image a number of times and rotated it.

I really love how both these edits turned out however next time I could experiment with different colours.

I decided to do for one image over pages 10&11. I think this image is really strong and I love the pop of colour agasint the black and white image.

I think it turned out really nicley and I love the final outcome.

Dystopia Magazine- Pages 12&13

For pages 12 and 13 I decided to do the editing slightly differnt with the repeated black and white images for page 12 and then the same image but in colour and upside down for page 13.

I really like how this spread turned out however next time I'm going to experiment with with differnt photoshop techniques such as the pen tool.

This is my double page spread for my pages 14&15... Once again I love the colours in this image. I also love how I took the shot and how close to my model Chloe the image was taken.

I think it really creates a dystopian vibe and I love the contrast of the green agaisnt the blue.

This is my back cover for my magazine. I love how the lighting creates a dark gloomy shot and I love the way my model Jodie is positioned.

I think it creates a dystopian vibe and really rounds off my whole magazine.

Studio Processes

This week in college we were experimenting with different studio processes. I decided to draw a picture of my friend Jodie which I had previous took in the studio. 

I started off by drawing the outline of Jodie and then I decided to draw some mandala on her arms and hands using a fine line pen. I think drew her top with lots of little lines using an orange and yellow felt tip pen. 

I quite like how this sketch turned out however next time I want to make sure to take more time on it and draw shading and add more detail.

Coloured Jells and Drawing with Light Pens Shoot

This week we did a shoot using coloured jells and also drawing with light pens shoot.

To do the coloured jells we put coloured jells over the lights and I set my cameras to exposure 200 and shutter speed to F36.

For the light pens we went into the dark room and turned off all lights aside from the pens. I changed my camera settings to light exposure 1/2 and shutter speed to f5.

I really like how both of these shoots turned out. I think that both of them produce such quirky outcomes.

Projection Shoot

This week we learnt how to project images onto our models during a shoot.

Firstly we created an image we wanted to project... We then saved them onto a memory stick and put the moemory stick into a projector and projected the images onto our models.

I really enjoyed this shoot it was so fun seeing the projected images on Aaron and Chloe.

I had my camera settings on exposure 200 and shutter F 36.

Foiling Lesson

Recently, we were taught how to foil our images.

Firstly, we learnt one of the techniques using glue. We had to put glue over the parts of the images which we wanted to foil. Then we had to wait for the glue to completely dry before putting the foil on top of it and then placing it under the heat press for 15 seconds. 

Using the glue technique it creates brush strokes onto the image. 

The other technique of foiling we learned was using bondaweb. With the bondaweb you have to cut out the shapes you want and put the rough side and the smooth side up. The you iron the bondaweb onto the image and peel it off and it’ll leave a layer which you then put foil on top of and use the heat press for 15 seconds again to transfer the foil onto it.  

This is the remaining foil not transferred onto the image...

I think the outcomes of this technique are really cool and quriky.

David LaChapelle

David LaChapelle is an American commercial photographer, fine-art photographer, music video director and film director who was born in 1963. LaChapelle is best know for his photography and has also won the GLAAD Media Vito Russo Award. 

I love the setting of this first photo, I think it’s such a cool idea to take a photo in this kind of setting. I also love the way the blue contrasts with the pink. 

I love this photo! I love the fact that the model has been painted in bright blue colours it gives him a sort of avatar vibe. I also love the props they have chosen to use such has the flower head band!

I love the pink body painting LaChapelle has chosen to use in this photoshoot, I think it’s such a cool idea and I love the way everything is glittery.

I love the vibrance of this photo! The colours LaChapelle has chosen to use contrast each other so well! I love the usage of props as well, the bright blue motorbike is so cool.

I love the vibrance of all of David LaChapelle’s work I think it’s all absolutely stunning.

Examples of location photography

Location photography is when a photographer goes to a remote site away from their usual studio or space where they can’t control the wildlife or the weather. It’s completely unpredictable what type of atmosphere they will receive.

My first example of location photography is of an underground train station. I love that the photo is in black and white and that you can almost see the speed of the trains passing...

My second example is of London bridge with passing traffic. I love the colours in this image and again that blurry line which shows the rate of traffic passing across the bridge... 

This 3rd image is an almost perfect view of perfection. It’s been taken on the beach and everything is bright and colourful. It’s a perfect blue sky against the perfectly lay out path...

This final image is of some mountains. It looks so perfect it’s almost unrealistic. I love the colour of the sky against the mountains and bright orange ground.

I think that location photography is so cool. It has the potential to bring out really beautiful outcomes.

Ashish

Ashish is a luxury fashion brand. Their clothing is so gorgeous and elegant, the detail in each piece is incredible.

This first piece is apart of their mens wear. I love the vibrant colours and the detailing is so delicate. 

I love the material the designer has used for this outfit. I think it’s so quirky and I love the vibrance of the colours. I love the fact the model is wearing sunglasses it really compliments the whole outfit.

I love the bright colours the designer used for this outfit, it really does draws people eyes to it. The detailing of the flowers on the outfit is also incredible.

I love the sequin, jazzy look this outfit has. The blue compliments the yellow and pink really nicely. 

I love Ashish’s style and alternative ways of thinking. I think it’s so out of the box and it has a huge wow factor to it.

Nadia Lee Cohen

Nadia Lee Cohen is a British art photographer, film maker and self portrait artist who was born in 1991. She studied at London College of Art and has said her inspiration is British and American cinema of the 1950′s, 1960′s and 1970′s.

I think that this first image is so clever, I feel as though it represents a typical British holiday... With a dad on the barbecue and someone grumpy having a cigarette... I love the way the camera angle is straight on so the viewer gets the view of the couple as if they are with them.

I love the waxy, almost mannequin look the model has been made to look like. It creates a doll vibe and the cassette player creates the 60′s/70′s vibe. I also love the way the model is positioned as if she’s looking into the camera. I love the vibrance of her blue dress too, it really makes the photo pop.

I love this photo so much! It has the same waxy, mannequin vibe as the photo above but slightly more lifelike. The background looks vintage and I love the way the models have 4 arms. It shows that woman needs 4 arms to hold everything that they need!

I love how this photo captures a combination between more waxy looking models and more realistic looking models. The hairdressing setting is so cool, and the old hairdryers really give off that vintage vibe. I love that the models have rollers in their hair, it adds to the vintage vibe!

Overall, I think that Nadia Lee Cohen works of art are very quirky and talented... It’s definitely specialist to her.
