Making a forever world!

For a while I have wanted to make a forever world, but I've never really had the motivation to keep it up for more than a couple weeks. So I decided that sharing my progress here might motivate me to keep up with it, as I like making stuff for an audience. If you're interested in seeing me build stuff and make this forever world a thing, come follow this blog!

Here's an area close to my spawn, around where I decided to set up my first starter base. It's a really pretty area with lots of wood types nearby, so I managed to luck out pretty well with the seed!

New build

I finally completed my first build other than my house: a watchtower modelled after firewatch towers. I think they're really cool so I wanted to add one to my minecraft world. It's not very decorated or furnished inside but I can always come back later and make some improvements.

It also has a great view of the forests around me, and there's a lush cave underneath the mountain I built it on, so I'll keep my bed up here whilst I explore the caves below.

So, I made myself a little starter house. It's not that impressive, but it is at least a roof over my head, and somewhere to put all my stuff.

After I finished my interior I went to do a bit of mining and exploring, since I wanted to get some iron and more coal. After going through A Lot of forest, I came across a plains and cherry grove biome.

The plains had a village, so I went there to take some crops and stuff back to my base, and on the way back I found a geyser! I'll have to go back to it at some point to dig up some sulphur, and I'd like to get some cherry wood as well. Unfortunately, the plains had no horses, but I really would've liked to get a horse as well.

...I thought hot springs were supposed to be therapeutic, but this really isn't.

After coming back home I set up some crop farms, hoping to get a better food source than living off of sweet berries.

Initial progress

Started my world by exploring a bit and finding a place I wanted to set up a base. Since the area's all forest, I was trying to find somewhere I wouldn't have to clear out so many trees, but eventually settled on a spot by the riverbanks. I'm thinking I should make a fishing rod and start fishing for food, as I've mostly been living off of berries for my first few days, though I'm going to make myself a proper house first.

The basic bed, crafting table and furnace set up. This is 'home' for now.

I love the wildflowers in the birch forests, they're so pretty.

There's a really good selection of forests here, I managed to find oak, birch, spruce, dark oak and pale oak all really close to my spawn. So of course, I took some of each and I'm planning to use most of them in my starter house.
