BIOGRAPHY:
Ellis Shepherd was born to be great.
Her name was rooted in greatness, both the Shepherd and the Grey sides. She was named after one of the best surgeons of all time, she was the product of two amazing surgeons. Her aunts were all fantastic surgical titans.
She should have been happy, ecstatic that a path had essentially already been carved out for her but she wasnât. And as she grew up, that path began to feel more and more like a dark forest full of monsters.
Ellis was always the quiet, soft spoken girl in the back of the class. Unless it was to answer a question, she had very little to say. She had a few friends, but not a large social circle. The only time she stood out was when someone decided to make a snide comment about the Shepherdâs or Sloanâs. At that point, Ellis could no longer be quiet. She would go after anyone who tried to hurt her family. Loyalty and fierce protectiveness; things that definitely described her.
When she was 16, she met Dillon. He was a jock, one of the cool kids who would often ignore her. But when they got paired together for an assignment, they grew closer. He asked her to homecoming, and it was there he asked her to be his girlfriend. They dated most of her junior year, but at prom, he told her the truth. There had been a bet between the guys as to whether or not he could âscoreâ with her. That was the last time she saw him, avoiding him like the plague until 3 weeks later when he graduated and she could finish high school in peace.
When college came around, Ellis was at a loss. She had been in dance classes since she was little. She figured her parentâs saw it as an extra curricular activity that would keep her moving and maybe a way to make friends. But instead, it became her passion. She choreographed complicated dance moves in her basement, she spun on pointe for hours in the studio. That was her dream. But anxiety overtook her. What if her parents were disappointed in her? What if her whole life fell apart and instead, she was left with herself?Â
So she pretended. She took classes that were dance oriented but she also filled her schedule with biology and anatomy classes, so that if her parents asked she could say she was on her way to med school. But she knew that her undeclared major would cause nothing but problems, so she didnât tell her parents, she just gave them the check and pretended that nothing was wrong.
