Maybe an angsty, loving fic/ one shot where he's leaving for a high profile mission (with all the high profile danger included) and is doing everything not to say no and stay home (because you're trying to be supportive, loving and do all the little "day before you deploy" traditions like cook a certain food...but you're absolutely destroyed because of all the risk involved this time (and obviously don't want it to show so you're doing everything to hide the tears that just won't stop). You hate this part.
The last few days, before he leavesā¦
Days go by too quickly for your liking, and suddenly it seems like he is leaving before he has a chance to say hello.
It wasnāt always this way, but in recent months Laswell has called him to more and more missions.
His leave is nearly up, his phone conversation with Laswell didnāt sound good from what you could catch.
Youāve known Alex long enough to knowā¦ He is upset; he does a good job of covering his emotions when dealing with his superiors, but you knowā¦
He wanted to tell Laswell noā¦
But you know he canātā¦ Consequences be damned.
You had done everything you can to make his last day special.
Cooked his favorite meal, and dessert.
Let him sleep in and let him relax.
And though you know he was appreciative of everything you had done to make his last day perfect, all he wanted was to spend time with you, and try to remember each and every detail he loved about you.

Those were the words you didnāt like to hear, but knew it came with the territory.
You were a nurse on the military base, friends with Captain John Price and Sergeant Kyle Garrick, and Kate Laswellā¦ So, you werenāt new to this.

You stare at him, watching as he moves carefully through your room, making sure he has everything he needs.
You can see the worry lines creasing in his handsome face, can hear him mumbling under his breath as he tries to recall everything he needs.
Standing from the comfort of your warm bedding, you make your way to Alex, stopping him before he walks a hole through your carpets.

Alex never trusts himself to speak, his emotions are scattered; he gives you a simple nod.
You take his hands in yours, pulling him closer, āIf I could keep you all to myself, I would,ā you nudge your nose against his.
His smile is small, itās beautiful and shy, āI would love nothing more than to take you away from all of thisā¦ Just me and youā¦ā

You feel the onset of tears, as they blur your vision; you donāt want to ruin the moment, but your heart achesā¦
