ā the fallow mire.
āIām not.ā Auberon quickly denied the accusation. It felt like an accusation to him.Ā āYou are weiā different. To be honest I wasnāt sure about you the first time we met⦠but I know I can trust you.ā He admitted with a small smile.Ā āItās just⦠this Inquisitor thingā¦ā
āSkyhold is really different than Haven.ā The uneasiness resurfaced.Ā āI donāt know much about human politics⦠or politics in general. Itās frustrating to know that too much salt means I can lose a favor of a noble but I donāt know how much salt is too much!ā
His face reddened when he realized he almost shouted.Ā āSorry. Iām rambling, arenāt I?ā
āDifferent?ā Solas chuckled,Ā āThat is one way to describe me I suppose.āĀ
He patiently waited for Auberon to finish, knowing very well the frustrations the young elf was talking of. For an elf raised in a clan such as Auberon, regardless of how open they are, human customs can be strange. Especially the customs of noble humans. It could all be overwhelming to an outsider, but now it was the Inquisitorās job.Ā āYour rambling is understandable Inquisitor, nothing to be worried about.ā
āI imagine Lady Montilyet has been trying to help you navigate the way of the noble?ā
Isyrisā ears perked slightly, a gentle smile on her lips as she let loose of the bow string the arrow hitting the dead center of the target. āThereās a reason I was the best hunter in my clan.ā She turned her purple gaze to the taller elf a cheeky grin replaced the smileĀ āWhen I was younger I..ā ever so slight was her hesitation should she tell the truth about the dreams she would explore as a child? After everything that had happened, the conclave, haven.. would it be appropriate to open up and tell more about herself? Yes.Ā
She looked away plucking another arrow and placing it pulling back against the string.Ā āI had dreams, I learned much. And books, many booksā she chuckled lightly.
He watched silently as her arrow hit its mark. "You never told me about dreams," Solas kept his voice steady and even. It was not an accusation but a legitimate inquiry. Isyris was not a mage. Most mages were not even able to navigate their dreams for fear of dangerous spirits and lack of skill. And from it sounded like, she had encountered ancient spirits and memories. Solas tried to contain his curiosity, simply watching her loose another arrow that predictably hit its mark, āDid your keeper know of your skill?āĀ
River rarely slept this well, in all honestly; it took a great use of her regained magic to knock her completely out. When Haven fell under the assault of the Red Templars, she was one of the first to leap in the line of fire to distract the monsters from civilians as they ranā¦
But after some time, the use of her magic caused her to relapse and it almost cost her life as she was no longer a priority to herself-if not for a set of the Inquisitionās Templars coming to her rescueā¦
Her injuries werenāt to severe, nothing that would kill her if left unattended. The most critical ones seemed to be burns from over-casting, hands and forearms burnt from lightning.
Then she awoke.
River gasped a little, blinking, vaguely aware for a moment it wasnāt a battlefield, green tinted lightning arked from her fingers a moment.
āBe calm, we are not at Haven, it is over,ā Solas placed his hands over her own in order to quell the magical energy. The lightning hurt, but it seemed to help slightly. River seemed to recognize that they were no longer at the Inquisitionās fortification, but rather in a tent in the middle of a snowy landscape. When he removed his hands, he could see the bandages around her burns were singed by the lightning.Ā
Solas sighed and grabbed some more healing poultice from his bag and another roll of bandages. They barely had enough as it was to keep the wounded healthy, but these were from his own personal stores. Methodically he unwrapped the damaged cloth from Riverās hands and started to rub generous amounts of the poultice into the worst of the burns.Ā āWe lost Haven, but thanks to the actions of the Inquisitor and yourself, we managed to rescue many survivors...ā There was an unspoken question in the room regarding the reason why River was able to save all those people. As badly as Solas burned to ask how it was that she was able to reverse the effects of Tranquility, he decided to tend to her wounds first. He had heard of some mages being able to temporarily regain their gifts with the help of spirits (which was intriguing enough on its own), but to regain full ability out of nowhere? That was practically unheard of.Ā
(star wars is destroying my social life so sorry if replies are a bit delayed D:)
Kalin had been at the tavern all day it seemed pouring over papers which required her attention, the most boring part of her new position it seemed. The battle at Haven had been trying and so had events since then and now there she was a mage no older then 21 leading an army, truly a story. Hearing the voice of the elf however Kalins ears perked and eyes looked up to meet him with a smile. āOf course not Solas, whats on your mind?ā
Solas nodded politely and sat down across from the young woman. His eyes scanned over the papers in front of her before returning to Kalin herself. This mage was the head of a borderline heretical organization. She should be out experiencing the world, not fighting in a war. Still, this was not why he came over to her.Ā āI have been thinking on this for a while. I keep replaying what happened at Haven over and over again... Your magic. Iāve never seen anything like it before. You were using spells that have been ancient and long forgotten with ease. How were you able to perform such feats when you began in a Circle Tower?ā

āWhat brings you to our little operation? If you donāt mind me saying you seem a little lost,ā in all honestly most of those who came in through the gates of Haven seemed a bit dazed and confused. It was a lot to take in especially when this close to a major rift. He looked down at the young woman before him and could sense something ancient coming off of her. He chalked it up to magic. It was a magic he had never sensed before but that was the only thing that he could come up with.

The battle for Haven already seemed like a long lost memory. Faded images of fire and smoke and a hazy figure of a magister lost to power. The Inquisitor lay unconscious but stable in a cot, watched over by Mother Giselleās protective eyes and he stood over his own charge. She was one of Sister Lelianaās birds. He had only seen her in passing, only barely catching a glimpse of the Tranquil mark under her hood. That was why he was shocked to see magic flowing out of her in strong waves during the battle. Her magic had been seeping from her very bones it seemed, destroying everything in her path.
Thatās how the once unnoticed agent had become one of their largest priorities and naturally, since she was a mage, it was up to Solas to find out how to cure this. Truthfully there was nothing he could do until she awoke. Even in sleep, he could feel the magic radiating off of her. She could prove dangerous to their operation should they find her uncontrollable; however, if she could get a reign on it, she could prove one of their most useful allies. All would be determined soon.

āMind if I join you Inquisitor?ā It was not often that Solas found himself in the Tavern, let alone outside his study, but he had questions for their newly appointed leader. Admittedly the loud, bawdy bar was not the ideal location, but his curiosity had been piqued ever since the battle at Haven. Where had this human female learned spells like that? Certainly not from the circles her kind seemed to worship.

āWho trained you to use a bow Inquisitor? Iāve never seen this technique used before by your people.ā The young dalish elf held her weapon in such a way that seemed reminiscent of the days of old. How could she know about that? Perhaps she had come across it in her studies. Regardless, Solas was curious.
Starter Call
Just got back from a lengthy hiatus and am looking for threads :D Like for a generic starter or message me to plot c: Iāll get to some replies tonight, but will most likely be posting tomorrow.
Auberon, to his credit, didnāt jump like he would when he first met Solas at Haven.Ā āIām always restless.ā He shrugged uneasily.Ā āThereās a lot to do as The Inquisitor but⦠also not a lot for me to do.ā The younger elf sighed.Ā
āThat is quite the contradiction Inquisitor,ā Solas could feel the tension radiating off of Auberon. Itās not like he wasnāt used to people being like this around him. After all he was an apostate, a powerful one at that. In this day that seemed to be enough to install fear in others. But he was currently standing next to the only one who could possibly fix the tear in the sky. This would not do. āWhy, might I ask, are you uncomfortable around me? It would not conducive for us to feel this way if we are to work together.ā
"Did you think you could slink back in without saying hello, ma'av'in?" Haleir teases with a raised eyebrow. -- dirthavhenan
āI do notĀ āslinkāā¦ā Solas frowns slightly, yet his voice spoke in jest,Ā āIt is not like I was avoiding you personally Inquisitor.ā The ancient elf crosses his arms and leans his hip against his desk.
auberonlavellan followed you.
āYou seem restless Inquisitor, perhaps a calming draught could soothe whatever it is that ails you?ā
