Im tired of people gatekeeping paganism
First and foremost paganism is a reconstruction. There is zero possible way to be 100% accurate in your practice. Paganism was passed through word of mouth and the stuff that was written down was destroyed. No matter your past religion or politics or anything you can be a pagan. The beauty of people is that we have a willingness to change!
There is no one right way to practice. In my practice I use raw crystals, pressed herbs, I make extremely specific and intricate sigils created from a mix of intuition and using letter strokes. I only ever burn when I need something particularly powerful (pyrophobia). My grimoire is not intuitive to anyone but me. I believe in omnism because if the belief and concentration of energy is high enough the world begins to change, you create these energies through belief. I myself only build kharis with 2 gods who aren’t even from the same pantheon. And that is completely okay!
We learn from each other, we pull from others experiences and practices and make it our own. And to quote my grandpa “it is better to acquire a mountain of perspectives than a limited pile of beliefs” we are free to choose. We are part of nature. Part of the cycle.
We should not demean the practices of others! And we should not gatekeep what we do simply because someone was christian or catholic or buddist or anything else. We are an open religion. We are a community built on acceptance. I don’t agree with many practices yes, but that is personal to each person none of us have the right to determine the correct way to practice because none of us KNOW how. We make educated guesses and use our intuition but we’ll never truly know how it was practiced by our ancestors.
Paganism, like people, is a clay that can change and shift, something we can cement for ourselves but not for others. Do not be closed-minded!
