Reflection
I had a lot of fun with this project, well mostly I had fun. I really enjoyed creating my fold out poster, I knew most people would be doing a zine so I wanted to do something a little different. It took a bit of planning and a lot of trial and error. Getting all the lines and folds to match up was a very tedious task, but I finally was able to create something unusual and something that I’m quite proud of.
Like during every assessment task, there was some difficulties and snuggles to work though. I actually was more than a little hesitant in contacting my chosen creatives. After drafting up the messages it took some courage to actually press send (I know that sounds silly, but everyone is a little scared of rejection aren’t we?) Which means I was so excited to hear back from Kiri so quickly after I’d contacted her - she wasn’t my first choice but she was my second and the first person I’d contacted, and I know I shouldn’t assume but I think its doubtful that I would have heard back from Issey Miyake himself..
Anyway like I said I was over the moon about her reply and even more impressed with her answers, she was really honest and detailed and it made me wish I had of asked her some deeper, better suited questions. That isn’t to say I’m not happy with the ones that I chose - because I am. Just a little advice for students who haven’t completed this assignment yet; tailor your questions personally to your creative and don’t be afraid to ask them some thought provoking things!
I look forward to continue to build and create and mess and make and master the skills I’ve learnt in this communication design studies class next semester. I love the way Andy & Bronwyn have encouraged us to get our hands a little dirty in order to make something super..
