Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Emre was born a few years before his sister, Celine. He has been protective of his younger sister since before she was born. At three years old, he knew that his one expectation early on in life would be making sure Celine was okay. 

He had a good family and a good life. His parents did not divorce like many other kids he knew. They fought, like any family did, but they always came together at the end of the day. Emre felt very lucky to have a family like his. 

Growing up, Emre always hung out with Celine. Despite being three years apart in age, Emre had no problem letting his sister hang out with him and his friends. It was what kept them close in the beginning, forging their close sibling relationship to come. 

While Celine preferred the arts of the world, Emre had more interest in logic. He found puzzles to be a task he enjoyed, whether actual puzzles or reading murder mysteries and trying to figure out the killer before the book told him. The same could be said about watching crime shows and documentaries. Emre had notebooks upon notebooks of trying to figure out who did it first. 

So, it was no surprise that when he went to college, though not something he particularly wanted, he got a degree in Criminal Justice. Emre knew that his skills, particularly his detective skills could help out. He had been working at the local police station after college, having not got in at a super high level position but he was able to learn the ins and the outs. And he enjoyed every second of it. 

Relationships with others had always been few and far between as he tended to get a bit obsessive with his work and it drove people away. When he was in a relationship, it was relatively secretive to those in his life. He knew what people did with information and he didn’t want to be exploited in anyway. However, this relationship ended in tragedy when he showed up to work a case to find that it was his girlfriend that had been murdered. 

After six months of extensive digging, the case ran cold and it was closed. However, Emre continued to work on it, obsessing over every minor detail that could have ever happened. To this day,  two years later, he is still looking for who killed his girlfriend. 

For actual payment, Emre does a variety of skills for people that require his resources and having left the police department, he has been able to have more flexibility. So much so that he followed his sister down to North Carolina after she moved. Her sudden move and quitting of her job was suspicious and it had happened that work had led him in this direction. 

He got certified pretty quickly and began working. Emre had no intention of staying as long as he did but he grew weary of the motel, his sister wasn’t leaving and so, Emre bought a house in Rosewood Hills. Emre has been here since July 2021 and works primarily out of his office with a bunch of freelance work.

Celine hadn’t thought to look around before she kissed Nick. To see if she knew anyone here, to see who exactly was watching her or even to pay attention to the suppressed gasps when she leaned in and kissed a man who was twice her age. All she had been thinking of was going home with him. The alcohol had fueled her on her, seeing him alone and not having seen him in a while all made her act without thinking. The only thing on her mind was how good it felt kissing him, and how good it’d feel to go home with him again. If anyone let the age thing stand in the way clearly wasn’t looking at Nick and seeing how attractive he was. One moment his lips were against hers, and all too soon without warning they weren’t. They were ripped away and she opened her eyes, thrown into the wild situation that she never saw coming. Her brother dragging Nick off of her and off his chair. She cried out, jolting backwards as her brother slammed his fist into Nick. “Emre! Stop!” She cried out, shaking and freezing halfway between a lunge towards them and pulling back. She watched in horror as this spun wildly out of control. “Stop! Dur!” She cried out, and tried to reach for the pair not wanting to see Emre beat up Nick.

For a moment, Nick had no idea what happened. He was being kissed and was about to pull away when he was dragged off his chair and a fist connected with his face. This wasn’t the firt time he had been hit, but it certainly had been a while. He could heard Stevie gasp and his grandkids yell, “Papa!” behind him, but his focus was trying to get to who actually hit him. He looked to see Celine get between them  and he worried she was going to get hurt, but she did seem to know this guy. “Celine, what’s going on here?”

Emre was seeing red as he pulled the man back from Celine. He was as old as their grandfather could be. And apparently was. He barely heard the scream of Papa from a young kid. Violence was not something Emre took part in but seeing his sister being taken advantage of in the middle of a cafe - he wouldn’t stand for it. After he let the punch fly, he stepped back staring at both the man and Celine. His sister stared after him in horror and he smoothed his hand over his shirt. “I think that’s a question better suited for you,” he turned to the man who knew his sister’s name, “what they hell are you doing kissing her?”

Harper shook her head at the man’s comment. “No worries, I just wanted to make sure that you weren’t trying to tell me something and that I wasn’t completely ignoring you.” She explained with a small chuckle. Sometimes she just got lost in her own world and didn’t know what was going on around here. Which of course Harper knew wasn’t always a good thing. “I was in the zone but honestly, I’ve been out here a while. It’s probably not the worst thing in the world that you broke me from my trance.”

“That’s very kind of you,” he chuckled, though he supposed it wouldn’t be the first time that had ever happened to him. He tried not to talk to people that were not interested and clearly distracted. “Sometimes it is nice to take a break, right? We get so caught up in what we are doing that we don’t remember to do so.” He couldn’t recount the number of times that Emre had been caught up in the world of solving the murder of his girlfriend from two years ago. He didn’t eat for days in the beginning, having to be dragged away from the drawing board from his own family.

Alicia had just gotten off a long day at work, and her two options were go home and watch Netflix with a bottle of wine or go to the bar and get a drink and attempt to meet some people, so she chose going out. Alicia glanced down at her phone as it rung again, groaning audibly as she rejected the call, stuffing it into her purse this time. “Sorry, where were we?” She smiled, her voice pleasant, flirtatious, her smile matching perfectly with a sweet innocence before she brought her drink to her lips, tongue swirling to find the straw.

Emre didn’t make a habit of flirting with beautiful women at the bar, but this particular evening, he couldn’t be helped. The cocktails were flowing and he was feeling a bit light-headed from the alcohol flowing through his system. “I think we were betting on if that guy over there was going to end up getting into a fight with this guy hitting on his girlfriend,” Emre pointed with a slight nod of his head, “He seems pretty bothered by it,” the man paused, “but is it enough to throw a punch?”

With both of them having a free day, Dalila and Celine had decided to go day drinking. They’d spent all morning and afternoon together, down the street at a restaurant having sangria, wine, and margaritas while snacking, sitting outside, and just having a good time. They finally decided it would be time to head home. As they were walking down the street, Dalila said she needed to stop by the restaurant and would meet Celine at home. It was only on a whim that she stepped into Hilltop Cafe to get some coffee to sober up. And as she turned around with her drink in hand that was when she saw Nick. 

Celine knew it was a bad idea, she knew in the back of her mind that she shouldn’t even be approaching him. She recognized the blonde making drinks behind the counter as Nick’s daughter in law from the photos in his house from the nights she went home with him. Despite not being sloppy drunk or even too far gone, she still strutted over and pulled the empty seat across from him and pulled it up right next to him. “Long time no see.” She grinned, her voice already flirty. Celine knew this was a bad idea, it was broad daylight and not a bar late at night, but she still sat down and placed her hand on his leg, leaning in and teasing him. “I’ve been thinking we need to fix that.” She flirted, the alcohol coursing through her encouraging her to act on a whim without thinking. “You should take me home. Show you we don’t need to both drink to have a good time.” And without thinking, Celine leaned in and kissed him.

Nick had gone to get the twins from school and was dropping them off at the cafe for Stevie. It was something he had done since the two started school and he liked it. It gave him time with the kids and then with Stevie as well. He had brought the kids down and they were off at a table to start their homework like their mother said and he was sitting at a table to have a coffee and something to eat like Stevie insisted and he knew that he couldn’t say no. So he sat with his coffee and was reading a paper when he heard the chair move and he looked up to see Celine. “Hi, Celine.” He said before he smirked and put the paper down. “We do?” He asked and could smell the alcohol coming from her. He was about to interject when her lips met his and they kissed. All he could taste was alcohol and was about to pull back.

Emre had been finishing up a background check on some new employees for one of the local restaurants in town when he decided to head to Hilltop Cafe. It had become a favorite place of his, loving to sit down with his work in the back corner booth for hours on end. He’d order coffees, ones that usually went cold before he finished but sometimes he’d order more than one depending on how long he was there. Emre had already been working at the cafe, not paying much attention to those around him. No one could see his screen as he worked away, his privacy kept. It wasn’t until he heard a murmur of gasps coming from the cafe that he looked up. And there she was. His sister. Emre would know Celine from anywhere and she was being kissed by a man, whom looked to be their grandfather’s age. Sitting up from his table, he slammed the laptop shut and his fists were already clenched as he moved toward the pair. “Who the fuck do you think you are?” Emre grumbled as he grabbed the man by his collar to pull him away from his sister. It didn’t take more than a second longer for Emre’s fist to swing at the man.

Typical, things always mess up on a Friday, a day where the clients were getting ready for the weekend, the spa was booked up for a relaxing to the max and its then the sunset spa and salon sign blows a bulb. “ Ohhh perfect.” Lorian rolled his eyes with a sigh as he looked up at the sign with his hands on his hips. “ I need this like I need a hole in the head.” He grumbled and caught his reflection in the window and fluffed his hair a little before grabbing a ladder and climbing up and playing with the bulb as he did this saw someone walk past and smiled. “ The only screw I’m getting this weekend.” He chuckled and twisted the bulb till it lit up again then climbed down the ladder. “Let there be light,” He  said and then smiled at the person. “Hi, How are ya? you look great today.”

Emre had been in town since July, though he had yet to really explore all of what Fallbrook had to offer. On a Friday afternoon off, Emre found himself wandering around town and looking for something to do. He didn’t have a preference and his sister was busy - probably dodging his questions about why she moved to Fallbrook. Emre’s attention was caught by that of someone fixing the sign at the spa, “Hi yourself,” he smiled at the other, “doing well, good work with that sign there,” he said, pointing up at where he had fixed it.

Looking up from the basket of chips on the the table between them, Celine blinked in surprise before smirking and dipping the chip in the individual bowl of salsa. Chewing slowly, she smiled at her brother. “I don’t know why you keep asking me that?” Of course she did though. Emre was good at his job and he was rightfully suspicious of why Celine quit her job and moved halfway across the country. “I told you I wanted to live by the ocean.” Which was true, but not the main reason she left her life behind. “Are you ever going to tell me why you ask me this at least once a week?” 

Emre’s lips tugged into a small smile at her words. If anyone knew why Emre was asking the question, it was Celine. His inquisitive nature had always got the best of him. “Mm, the ocean, right.” He nodded his head, still not buying the fact, especially not when she gave up her dream job. “I’m going to keep asking until you tell me the truth,” he told his sister, lifting his shoulders up into a small shrug. “What are you feeling for dinner?”

Harper was glad that they’d moved past the colder months and were slowly getting closer to summer. She had never liked the cold, and often wondered if she’d be better off moving somewhere that never got cold. She sat on a bench in the park and was sketching the scenery when she heard a voice nearby. “Sorry, did you say something?” Harper asked the person that she now noticed had shown up while she was not in her drawing.

Emre, having been in Fallbrook since the previous July, had not done as much exploring for himself as he would have liked. The warmer weather, however, brought the man out of his home in Rosewood Hills and to the park. He had sat down, further away from the woman that was working on her sketchbook as to not disturb her. But, as he mumbled to himself the actions of others, taking them in as people minded their own business in the park, it seemed that he caught her attention. “Sorry,” he cleared his throat, “talking to myself,” he admitted, knowing that ought to make him sound crazy. “I hope I didn’t disturb you.”

“So are you finally ready to tell me why you are living in Fallbrook for the last while,” Emre had decided to stay last July when he came down here for a job. Sure, in part, when he did come down, Celine was already here and sure he had been the one looking for jobs in North Carolina after getting certified in the state, but he just wanted to make sure his younger sister was okay. And more than certainly, his question was teasing, a smile having tugged the corner of his lips upward. He asked the question at least once a week.
