I know this is like a really controversial opinion but fat people deserve to be treated like a human beings whether theyâre healthy or not
Honestly I feel like if we were all just kinder to each other, obese people wouldnât feel like they need to pretend theyâre perfectly healthy just to be accepted. We donât have encourage any unhealthy choices they may or may not be currently making, to encourage them as humans and show them some dignity. Iâve never been overweight, but I remember when I ate like only grilled cheese and protein bars. People would try to âhelpâ me eat better and that just pissed me off. It wasnât until I moved away from everyone to college that I got really passionate about nutrition and exercise. Supporting someone and being honest when actually called for is all we can do as friends to a person we feel may be making bad decisions. Getting your choices stolen from you sucks and getting treated like a charity case does too. Iâm ALL about fitness and health, almost to an obsessive point, and I am not defending some kind of âself careâ guised hedonism ever, but our dignity is not based out of this. We all are gonna get sick some day, and I hope weâve found our worth in something much greater than that when it happens.
You lost me at âpretend th eyre perfectly healthyâ. Unless youâre a doctor youâre in 0 position to make any assumption other than if they say theyre healthy, then theyâre healthy. They go to their doctors appointments. You donât go with them. Deal with it and maybe youâll actually be a nicer person.
If someone is perfectly healthy, theyâre not going to be pretending then. Not assuming anything about any individual. My whole point, if you read it, is that we shouldnât judge people or give advice unless we are asked to. And the deeper point is that even unhealthy people, whether due to weight or disease, should be treated as humans. We shouldnât need to insist we are healthy for others to be kind.
Not even to mention that many people considered "obese" are body builders. I'm speaking about individuals within a group that are in fact not healthy, not about the entire group. No one should need to pretend they're healthy to get respect.
