Thank you for making my childhood, sensei.

I may have never known you personally but I can undoubtedly say, that you've shaped an entire generation with your work. I am forever grateful for being introduced to a universe where people can fly, dragons grant wishes, and even for a little while, forget how ruthless the real world can be.

One of the core memories from my childhood is raising my hands in front of the TV to "help" Goku save the world and I'll never forget the fun I had.

You gave us a gift that will keep on giving even after you're gone. I'm glad to have received this gift.

ok so this has been bugging me for months and i need to know- how does time work on missions? 'cause some missions doesn't seem to take more than an hour or so, whereas others seem to take a day or two (like "that purple girl"), and considering they have lives outside this job they can't just be on a mission for days in a row. does time work differently in other worlds? if so, how can phyllis and phil watch them meanwhile? or can all this be explained with cartoon logic? thank u have a nice day

Great question. It’s not cartoon logic. It’s multiverse zap logic.

They work after school for 2-3 hours, according to time in their Earth Dimension. Usually between 3:30-5:30pm.

Therefore, time spent in the zap dimensions does not correspond directly to how time passes in Middleburg. Most missions take much longer than two hours, considering the physical distance traveled alone in some cases, from arrival to departure. In Purple Girl they did in fact make camp and stay there through the night. In Amber and in Where Dragons Dare, a night passed as well. And in most cases at least 6 hours pass.

Watch Ultrahyperball again and guess just how much time passed? Sashi grew very long hair and Penn, Rippen and the announcers grew long beards, by the time the game was completed. Rippen read most of a giant book. Also on their journey to the elder ref, they traversed many planets to get there and back (though we never showed the use of spaceships onscreen)…

Phyllis and Phil calibrate how much time is needed for each mission using their MUTs. They have good intuition. The more time spent in other dimensions, the more Trans-Dimensional Energy is needed (Trans-D Energy is 1000x more powerful than Nuclear energy), in order to compress relative time in a particular zap world. Nobody said traveling through time and space was a simple thing…

If the above calibration is unspecified by Phyllis or Phil via MUT programming, then there would be a 1 to 1 relationship of time, from Middleburg time to a particular Zap World’s timeframe. For example, The Least Dangerous World Imaginable (The Ripple Effect) and with Brock and Vonnie in the Most Dangerous World Imaginable.
