She wasn’t above lying to get what she wanted. Ciri grinned as she secured herself a very, very surface level tour of the research center, just by promising to think about the reallocation of some funds. Funny that no one else had thought to offer that. Even though the tour would be basics only, it was good to foster relationships between herself and those she desired to know about. Allies tried to avoid attacking allies.

Ciri turned on her heel, nearly running into someone. They looked so familiar to her… why?

Oh! “You’re one of the others running for mayor, right? I think I saw your picture somewhere.”

Ciri held her stack of flyers close to her chest. She didn’t really want to campaign, having only belatedly realized that she didn’t want to be mayor, she just wanted to be able to learn about more hidden facets of the town. But “campaigning” - or rather, just putting her name out there- greatly helped with the snooping, she had found out.

She just had to put them in strategic positions. The farm delivered to so many places within town, she just had to leave a stack for the delivery drivers to see.

With Geralt’s permission, of course.

She knocked on the door to his home, wondering just how she would broach the topic. ‘This seems stupid, but I promise it’s helping?’ That didn’t sound right, even to her.

“Do you think I’m making the right decision?”

It hadn’t even been a decision, not really. Ciri had put her name in on a whim, thinking being mayor wouldn’t be as hard as princess lessons had been. Cintra was a whole kingdom, Sallow Hills was one town. As she thought about it more though, using the campaign as just an excuse to snoop into the secrets of the town was far more work than she intended.

She didn’t want to lead, she had realized. But she did want access to certain files and matters that would only come with being mayor.

What were they? Were they even a couple? Could Will openly call Lestat his partner? Everything was so confusing and it didn’t get any better when there was a clear distance between the two. Like walls had been built and no matter how much he tried to break them down he failed. Every single time he failed. Will didn’t want to give up but what other choice does he have? He couldn’t chase after a shadow.. not anymore at least. 

When he heard the door he didn’t even look up. Instead he just pulled the blanket tighter around his own frame and stared at the living room floor. There may be an election going on outside his own four walls but he didn’t really care.

Lestat licked the remaining blood off of their lips as they entered Will’s home. Election season meant more bodies to drop, more corpses of Cobblepot’s for Lestat to make disappear. Their deal had been fun in the beginning, when Lestat had needed a minor outlet in order to keep from draining their partner dry. It was slowly becoming irritating. Even with the sheer amount of mortals left in Cobblepot’s wake, it still wasn’t enough to beat back the freeze in their veins, the itch to bite into Will’s neck and rip.

That was an outcome they were trying to avoid for as long as possible. Will needed to choose when or even if he was turned, not be forced into it by Lestat’s appalling lack of control for their age.

“Will?” They questioned, staring down at the mortal. Not asleep, they could tell by his breathing.

“Is this all really necessary?” They asked, eyes drifting down to the various mayoral paraphernalia scattered across their kitchen island.

Lestat would support their fledgling in whatever they so chose to do with their time. To be mayor of a town as small as this one would be the worst chore in Lestat’s mind. Boring, constant scrutiny. Not the fun kind that fame brought either. Truly, only in the 80s could one be as popular yet as secretive as Lestat had been, radio silence for nearly a year while still stoking desire and intrigue amongst mortals.

Rey practically vibrated with excitement as she headed towards the garage, careful not to crush the little piece of paper in her hands. One little piece of paper that had finally gotten approved, just in time for Pride month.

It was strangely poetic, Rey finally achieving their legal name change right as June rolled around. They just went about it differently, changing their surname instead of their first. She wanted to celebrate, go to that bar with all the themed nights. It was close to closing anyways, she was sure she could convince Steve to come with her.

Upon entering, Rey made a beeline for Steve, all but shoving the paper in his hands. There, printed in bold, black letters at the top was her new, legal name. Rey Rogers.

“Look what came! The approval just went through today!” She beamed. “You should come celebrate with me, when you’re done closing.”

     Mayor  Rogers  stepping  down  had  been  a  shock,  especially  since  he  hadn’t  been  in  the  position  for  long.    He’d  been  the  only  person  interested  after  Mister  Monroe  disappeared,  and  he’d  been  a  great  boss.    He  really  cared  about  the  town.    But  then  he’d  just  …  quit.    ❝  You  think  something  happened?    I  mean,  why  would  he  just  up  and  quit?    Armes  is  losing  her  mind,  I  swear.  ❞

Call it the Force, call it best friend intuition, call it whatever, but Rey knew the signs of impromptu cuddling from Finn. Even still, she had just barely managed to lift Kyber up off her lap in time, depositing him next to her on the couch. “Yeah, dads are pretty great. Bucky let’s me do his hair when we open together.”

Rey reached down a thumb to smooth out the worry line that had formed between Finn’s brows. She copied his expression briefly before smiling. She was intrigued by the turn of events too, but much in the way when someone had overtaken power on Jakku. Distantly curious but ultimately not her problem. “Maybe it was just the job? Power is power, it’s easily corrupted. Maybe he got tired of Armes.”

Rey knew she would have.

THE  WHITE  RABBIT  WAS  MORE  CROWDED  THAN  IVY  WOULD’VE  LIKED.    the  fact  that  it  was  run  by  goody-two-shoes  Kate  Kane  and  her  preppy  sidekick,  Stephanie  Brown,  didn’t  help.    Ivy  couldn’t  tell  you  why,  but  the  two  of  them  had  always  gotten  under  her  skin.    Maybe  it  was  because    they  reminded  her  a  bit  too  much  of  the  Bats  and  the  perpetual  annoyance  that  those  people  were.

     But  it  was  pride  month,  which  was  important  to  her.    And  to  Harley.    Which  is  why  she  was  hoping  that  Harley  would  be  here.    Even  without  her  memories,  Ivy  knew  she’d  be  drawn  to  celebrating.

       Her  face  went  soft  for  a  moment  when  she  finally  spotted  Harley.    She  snagged  a  water  from  the  bar  and  slipped  over.      ❝  Fancy  meeting  you  here.  ❞

The usually, oh so reserved and cautious Harleen always took a backseat during pride month. She had known from a young age what she liked, saw fit to celebrate that whenever she could. Besides, she liked Sallow Hills’ version of pride. Quieter than Gotham, yes. But so accepting. And such a big community for such a small town!

Harleen sipped on her virgin cocktail, deciding to branch out and try one of the pride-themed drinks. Not her favorite, no, that would always be reserved for the sickly sweet piña coladas the blonde bartender made. Her eyes scanned the room, breath hitching when she saw the familiar redhead.

Shit, did it always do that?

“Hi, Ives.” Harleen pushed her blue, purple, and pink shutter shades on top of her blonde curls. Just to get a better look. “You don’t seem like the kind to actually go to a bar. Special occasion?”

Dorcas Meadowes loved living in Sallow Hills, and she was very, very excited for pride month. It was her first pride month ever, and she was thrilled to be able to take part in it. The only thing that would have made it better was if Marlene were here. Dorcas really, really wished Marlene were here to share in the joy of pride month. But she tried not to think about it too hard. Thinking about Marlene made her sad, and right now she just wanted to be happy.

Back in the old days, Dorcas had had to be careful who they told about their sexuality. All of their friends had been accepting and loving, but they’d never forget about how nerve wracking it had been to come out to them. 

Here in Sallow, coming out was easy. Nobody blinked an eye when Dorcas said they liked any and all genders. They were obsessed with the pride flags too. The rainbow pride flag had been around before she came to Sallow, but all the different pride flags that had come to be since then thrilled them. Dorcas had bought a bi pride flag for themself, and it filled them with glee to be able to fly it publicly.

She was sitting at a table at the White Rabbit, just enjoying a drink and the atmosphere, when she saw insert character here enter the bar. Dorcas waved to them enthusiastically, inviting them to pull up a chair at her table.

Harleen would always adore June. She came out of her shell for the brief moments she could. Here, Harleen wasn’t sure if she could. She rarely talked to anyone else outside of her patients. Overwhelmed by the sheer influx she had of them. Wouldn’t it be unprofessional? In Gotham she didn’t have to worry about such things, most of her patients wouldn’t have ever gotten out of Blackgate in the first place.

Still, she had decided to have fun. Pink, blue, and purple shutter shades were perched atop her blonde curls, the most festive she could get after work. Harleen enjoyed the White Rabbit, despite the distrustful glances the blonde bartender threw at her. Weird, but it wasn’t much of a bother to the doctor. She was sober, had been for years. Wasn’t like she was going to do much of anything.

Harleen flicked her eyes over the bar’s over enthusiastic patron, lips quirking up in a smirk. She looked like she knew how to party. And what the hell, it wasn’t like Harleen had anything better to do. “Hiya, you look like the most fun person in here, so I’m gonna stick with you.”

She sat in the offered chair. “I’m Harleen.”

Steph’s hand nervously drummed on the strap of her bag, heading up to Oswald’s office. She’d been distant, not wanting to push him into guilt over not remembering her. Steph knew it was stupid, he was still Oswald and some things wouldn’t change. The mayoral campaign was promising to her, maybe he had remembered a little bit more?

Once entering, she thanked the assistant for showing her the way before nervously smiling. “Uh, surprise? Wanted to say congratulations. And errand girl duties still stand, if you need me to. I technically never quit and you never actually fired me so…” A shrug.

CONNER  FLOPPED  ONTO  STEPH’S  COUCH,  GIVING  HER  THE  BEST  PUPPY  DOG  EYES  HE  COULD  MUSTER.    which  were  pretty  damn  good,  though  he  feared  all  the  bats  had  immunity  to  them.    Cass  certainly  had  and  for  the  most  part  so  did  Tim  (except  for  when  they  were  more  genuine).    He  suspected  that  Steph  did  too,  and  he’d  earn  an  eye  roll  at  best  from  her.    

     ❝  Go  with  me  to  the  Pride  Dance?    I  don’t  want  to  go  alone  but  it’s  going  to  be  so  fun,  and  I  think  you’ll  enjoy  it.    And  I  know  Kate  is  helping  organizing  it,  so  it’s  going  to  be  so  cool.  ❞    But  it  was  asking  Steph  to  cross  a  line  she  hadn’t  before,  to  be  just  a  bit  more  out  of  her  glass  closet  than  she  had  been.

Steph glared up at Conner, his flop and then speaking had interrupted her attempt at eyeliner. She wasn’t the best at makeup, often seeing no point when she had always been too lazy to take it off before patrol so it wouldn’t run and ruin her mask. She put the pen and mirror down, eyeliner only halfway done on one eye.

“Are we supposed to dress up or like… wear certain colors?” She hadn’t asked Kate much about the dance, seeing it as her thing and not something Steph should be meddling in. “Maybe? I don’t wanna take up that space because it’s not really for me you know? I’d feel weird walking in a pride parade too.”

Rhiannon placed the small flyer in her window, tucked in between the window panes. Having sales, classes, anything she would need to advertise for was far too much work for her. People knew exactly what the Cauldron was, the people that frequented her shop knew exactly what to expect. However something like this… she could see it being important to Tal. It was why Rhiannon had been saving this particular idea until pride month, knowing it would gain more traction with townspeople that would be interested in ‘passing’.

To most, it was a ‘free’ class on glamours. Rhiannon did ask for payment, but nothing humans would see as important. A physical piece of their home, their childhood. Small things necessary for performing the glamours she taught.

Footsteps behind her slowed, then stilled. Rhiannon turned, judging the newcomer. As if they could sneak up on a Sídhe. “Are you going to stare or are you interested in the glamour class?”
