I know that you've stated various times before that this project is on hiatus, however those were all answered in 2023 - It's 2025 now, and you never said anything in 2024, so I have but one question: IS THIS STILL BEING WORKED ON??? PLEASEEE SAY YESSS, I've made a tumblr account solely for this question.. (and you also seem to have good sprites and a decent amount of work done from what it looks like, so if it is cancelled then can you PLEASE release what you have? 👉👈)
Hi! Although it's been a long time, and admittedly the project has been put on the backburner, Rewind has still been on our minds.
As of right now, we still intend to finish. In the unlikely event that we decide to cancel, we'll probably share the incomplete demo and all our assets to the public. It's been a multi-year endeavor, and it'd be a shame to let it go to waste.
Right now the game has:
60+ rooms (maps/areas/levels) finished and implemented in the demo
70+ songs in the soundtrack (not including variants. This includes the entire soundtrack, not the demo-only music)
A ton of other sprites, charts, animations, and concepts that are and aren't included in the demo
As it is, the demo has been mostly complete for a while… we mostly need to draw a few more rooms, finish some character sprites, and implement various planned events.
The project as a whole is more difficult to estimate. A bulk of the work will already have been presented in the demo, through character and environmental sprites. There's a lot more left to do, though we have also worked ahead, writing events and creating assets for things that will not appear in the demo. The demo takes place over a month, and the full game takes place over eleven, but the full game isn't 11 times the work of the demo!
Once we're able to allocate more time to Rewind again, we're also likely not to post public previews as much, so that we can focus on working on the game. There's a lot we haven't shown yet as well. We'd really like to present everything in their intended context, if possible.
Thank you for your patience! We're sorry it's been taking so long, with life and other things getting in the way. But we still hold a lot of love for this project.
