Enterprises TV Raises Employee Top-Ranked Perks
Everybody loves perks. In the workplace, employees like certain perks more than others. Want to keep your staff happy and on the job? Perk up.
Favorite Employee Perks
A recent study from Princeton University and Harvard University found that the main perk employees want is to work from home more often. This very valued choice beat flexible schedules and flexible hours when 7,000 people applying for call center positions were asked online. The other options given to the prospective workers:
A steady Monday through Friday 40 hour work week.
Flexible schedules in which an employees sets their own hours up to 40 per week
A schedule with flexible hours which allows workers to chose how many they want to work, up to 40 per week
Monday through Friday 9 to 5 schedule with work at home days
Employer directed schedule which hours and days are given to employees a week in advance, or less.
Working from home, for at least one day a week, is becoming an industry standard. Many employers recognize that their workers not only want that one day, but need it when child care is not available or when schools are closed for the day. Despite this growing, popular work trend, some businesses do not offer that option. Business owners may feel that work at home employees are not disciplined enough to complete their work for the day, or have had a bad experience with employees in that type of employment arrangement. But, the truth is that more companies are adopting schedules which give workers more flexibility as a perk. Those that don’t may miss the opportunity of hiring or retaining the most loyal and dedicated workers their business employs.
